Watch the special effects guys f*ck up Optimus Prime

We've got an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DVD/Blu-ray, showing how the visual-effects artists bang the crap out of Optimus Prime.

The DVD and Blu-ray are on sale starting today in two-disc special editions and a single-disc DVD, from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures in association with Hasbro; distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment.

The two-disc Blu-ray and DVD feature more than three hours of special features, including a multi-chapter documentary, interviews with the cast and crew, an all-access featurette following director Michael Bay through an entire day, a comprehensive exploration of the "confidential files" on a dozen of the characters, multi-angle breakdowns of some of the most sensational action sequences and more.

"...an all-access featurette following director Michael Bay through an entire day"

Would that involve seeing him purse his lips and gesturing his arms wildly making explosion sounds every f@%king 10 minutes because there's not enough explosions in the movie?

that movie was a CGI circle jerk anyway

Nice headline, Sci Fi Wire! :)

hermy, I would love to have seen your comment among all of the other excerpts that appeared on Transformers' Metacritic page.

"Exhilarating or excruciating, depending on your point of view." Los Angeles Times

"Revenge of the Fallen just comes off as a bratty kid showing how many swear words he knows." Salon.com

"This Transformers is a pile of glittering junk." Wall Street Journal

"...a CGI circle jerk..." hermy

lol, nice comments, just got done watching the movie for the first time. Liked most of it except for the poor geographic accuracy. I just wanted to see robots blow stuff up and they did. Doesnt have to be shakespear...

I love all these people that are ripping this movie up. Calm down, Its based on a CARTOON that was made to sell toys!! Being a child of the 80's I have many fond memories of the Transformers and all my original toys but,.... What the hell are you expecting. I want two hours of eye candy and explosions just like the freaking toon, check. I'm good. Its M.Bay here, if your wanting to see Casablanca then your in the wrong movie.

I expect a half-way decent story when I go to see a movie (no matter what it is--and I'm fairly easy to please) and this just wasn't it... it was full of plenty of cgi goodness and explosions though. One would hope Michael Bay would learn to grow as a film maker instead of doing the same thing each time, but oh well... I did like this year's G.I.JOE movie much better (and it wasn't rocket science either).

That headline is so unprofessional and completely unnecessary. If you can't come up with a better verb, you need to go back to school or buy yourself a thesaurus!

By MrSchism at 9:18 AM ON 10/21/09

In all reality, the purpose of the verb is to draw more attention. It's a good clip, though I had hoped to see a more technical video (showing the movement of NURBS and whatnot).

I haven't seen the movie yet. However, when I do finally watch it, I want two things in it:

1. Robot destruction
2. Explosions

The Transformers never had a solid plot (cartoon or otherwise) so I'm expecting the same from this and any subsequent Transformers movie/spinoff.

By BlueMein at 11:27 AM ON 10/21/09

H,ah,ha, that's a great post Tony. I could see him doing that. i wonder if in Transformers 3 there are even more explosions and bad dialog. yeah!! Go michael bay. may be he could get robot chicken involved.

By hermy at 9:30 PM ON 10/21/09

what i meant by calling it a CGL circle jerk was that's all it was.was effects.I know it's Michael Bay film.and he's good at blowing things up.i liked the first transformers. i got bored with the explosions at the end of the movie.more story less blowey uppy.i seen how bad the early reviews were.and they were right.the first one showed they can make a desent robots beating each other up film.thats one DVD i'm not going to waste my money on

Not sure why the guys who write these articles feel the need to use profanity, even if it is just implied, in the titles. Totally tasteless.
