FlashForward has been criticized as a Lost replacement since day one, but after seeing last week's premiere, we don't think there's any truth to that. To prove it to you, we boiled down the highlights of each show and put the theory to the test using a simple Venn diagram.
Just click on the diagram below and you'll see that we've proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that FlashForward and Lost are not at all similar.

HE!HE!HE!
They may be doing it to us again. If so, I'll be done in less than 1 season.

If only "Features" could be spelled right more than twice... :-P
I enjoyed the premiere, personally. I'm looking forward to figuring out how they get a second season out of it!

Even after watching the much hyped premiere and viewing articles such as these... I think I would rather watch repeats of Mansquito...

After hearing how good the book was, I have come to the conclusion that it and this series share only one commonality: something weird happens to everyone at the same time.
I guess I gotta go read that book!

It really was a great book, one of my favorite SF novels from the last decade. It was kind of disheartening to have about 150 pages of its exposition crammed into 45 minutes of television, but from the looks of things, apart from the premise and a couple of character names, this is one of those "high concept" series that has little to do with its source material.
But it was awesome source material, and I'm going to keep watching despite having found Lost unwatchable from the very beginning.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T read the book. I tried and halfway through I gave up and finished the story on Wikipedia. I like the show but the book wasted a cool premise on nothing much at all.

Actually, I finished the book, the day before the show premiered.
Without spoiling the Book, you HAVE TO GET TO THE END of the book to get it. There is a POINT. Because that FLASH FORWARD that opens things up is a precursor for something.
No, the Book BEAT my expectations.
As for the two series, all I had to do is see the poster on the city street that said "Oceanic Airlines".
Enough said!

Ummm ... the Venn diagram is pretty cool. All the common things except for....not sure about...
Hobbit? where was there a Hobbit in Lost? lol.

@lfhlaw:
Dominic Monaghan played Charlie in Lost, Simon in Flash Forward, and the hobbit Merry in Lord of the Rings.

Interwining: the phenomenon when you have two words in your head that could be used (with slightly different sentence structure) to similar effect and opt to coin a new hybrid word rather than pick one.
