Vampires aren't the only supernatural sex objects in Hollywood. Witches and warlocks have their own spooky sensuality, which is why we're spotlighting them for the 26th of our 31 specials for the 31 days of Halloween.
Check back tomorrow at noon to explore the most evil things in science fiction.
When the Devil (Jack Nicholson) arrives in a small New England town, three unhappy and unsuspecting housewives, played by Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer, are transformed into a powerful coven of witches soon to be his brides. As they throw off the social constraints of their boring, tame lives and embrace their wilder, sensual sides, these three witches prove just how dangerously sexy magic can be.
Before he was Gambit in Wolverine, Taylor Kitsch played the part of a mischievous teenage warlock in the supernatural thriller The Covenant. Kitsch has a special way of always playing the perfect bad boy—in this case, one who can (literally) make you levitate!
The Halliwell sisters of San Francisco are three of the hottest witches ever to grace television. We're not going to risk a curse by choosing just one! Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Holly Marie Combs are, each in her own way, perfectly sexy.
Kim Novak embodies bewitching sensuality in the 1958 classic Bell, Book and Candle. A classic, timeless beauty, this is one enchanting witch who is definitely hard to resist, spell or no.
With her quirky smile and red hair, Willow is the cutie of the witch world. Alyson Hannigan displayed a grounded girl-next-door charm and adorable comedic timing to bring to life the sweet and sexy bookworm and modern-day witch.
Now that Daniel Radcliffe has come of age and made a foray into the rather revealing lead role in the Broadway production of Equus, it's safe to include him among our hot witches and warlocks.
If you prefer your witches hell-bent and completely devoid of any ounce of sanity, Helena Bonham Carter's performance as Bellatrix Lestrange might be your idea of perfection. Despite her maniacal psychosis in this movie, Carter is consistently beautiful in an otherworldly, elfin, gothic way that makes her completely irresistible.
What isn't there to find sexy about Neve Campbell? While her acting chops might not win any Oscars anytime soon, with silky dark hair and luscious lips, she's a definite bombshell and one sexy witch.
With her luminous dark eyes and hourglass physique, Barbara Steele possesses an otherworldly quality as the persecuted witch in the 1960s classic horror film Black Sunday.
Another perfectly insane magical maven of cinema is the character Queen Mab in the television series Merlin. Performed by the intensely talented actress Miranda Richardson, Queen Mab is seductively dark, divine and utterly ruthless in a manner only befitting the Queen of the Old Ways.
Exquisitely handsome and utterly heartless with his solid black attire and long blond hair, Julian Sands' portrayal of the centuries-old warlock in the original Warlock movie is dangerously sexy. This 1980s cult favorite helped to make Julian Sands a household name.
Ethereal and mysterious, the White Witch, played by Tilda Swinton in The Chronicles of Narnia, is a primal force to be reckoned with. More otherworldly than sexy in an earthly way, Swinton's slender, exotic features and frame meld perfectly with the magical landscape around her.
While Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman make a rather unlikely pairing as onscreen sisters, in the movie Practical Magic they are perfectly suited to the roles of Sally and Gillian Owens, two witches combating the curse of unfortunately killing every man they seduce.
In an earlier version of the later popular Bewitched, the character Jennifer, played by the stunning blonde Veronica Lake, is equally adorable and breathtakingly beautiful.
One of the most famous witches of all of television history, Samantha Stephens made every man in America long for a gorgeous wife who could wiggle her nose. Elizabeth Montgomery's classic style and comedic timing made her one of television's sweethearts of the 1960s.

Hey guys, you do realize that you got the wrong picture of the Halliwells, yes? Or at least the picture of the wrong Halliwells...
By greg at 12:20 PM ON 10/26/09
Exactly. That's Shannon Doherty, not Rose McGowan, in the picture.
By savagedoc at 12:28 PM ON 10/26/09
How about Barbara Eden, I Dream of Jeanie, I know she is a genie and not a witch, but still the hottest one of all.
By Zaphod at 12:32 PM ON 10/26/09
I would think Hermione Grainger should have been on the list.
By cfolliot at 12:57 PM ON 10/26/09
Yes, Hermione should be on the list, but of them all Allyson Hannigan is by far the sexiest. She just gets better looking.
By Manwitch at 12:58 PM ON 10/26/09
What? No Wicked Witch of the West or Bette Midler in Hocus Pocus?
By IronOre at 1:01 PM ON 10/26/09
What about the witches in Four Rooms? Tim Roth certainly appreciated at least one of them.
By Comedian at 1:04 PM ON 10/26/09
Fairuza Balk is way sexier in The Craft than Neve Campbell...
By jdmimic at 1:27 PM ON 10/26/09
Did they change the picture? That's definitely Rose McGowan, not Shannon Doherty in the picture of the Halliwells.
By Craig at 1:30 PM ON 10/26/09
We fixed the picture. Thx to all who pointed out the problem.
By superfly at 1:45 PM ON 10/26/09
How can you forget Hocus Pocus?
By syfyrules at 1:46 PM ON 10/26/09
why didnt tara (willow's true love) make this list??
By Mandy at 1:51 PM ON 10/26/09
What? No Harry Dresden? I thought Paul Blackthorne was very attractive in that role. Oh, right, Syfy is still making it their personal goal to annoy and otherwise antagonize anyone who actually had liked The Dresden Files in a conscious effort to try to avoid ever mentioning it.
By Mandy at 1:59 PM ON 10/26/09
What about Angelique from Dark Shadows? I know that's very old school but there's a sixties version and nineties version and she was very attractive.
By jolinar at 2:23 PM ON 10/26/09
Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell / Charmed Seasons 1-3) is & always will be the hottest Charmed One of all time (& the hottest witch of all time)!!!
By j3nnee at 2:33 PM ON 10/26/09
I'm glad they put Veronica Lake from "I married a witch" that movie was funny and cute. I also agree on HP, Warlock and Samantha but the rest are not what I would have picked in a million years. I'd also have added Harry Dresden aswell as Kiki from Miyazaki's animated movie "Kiki's Delivery Service."
By KatsuKaze at 3:57 PM ON 10/26/09
Seriously? Tilda Swinton? Hot?
By M at 4:25 PM ON 10/26/09
Tilda Swinton is very cool, Willow was very cool, but as far as this list goes Kim Novak wins! She exuded a truely magic sex appeal, she was just so beautiful (and I even play for the other team). Charmed, agh! That show was such complete trash, give me a break, ridiculous stories, horrendous "acting". I always liked Rose Mcgowen during her cool indie days, but.... And yes Harry Potter has become a hottie!
By Valkyrie at 4:38 PM ON 10/26/09
You had it right the first time with Shannen Doherty.
By Sammy at 4:49 PM ON 10/26/09
The title "Hot" implies a level of beauty, sex appeal, and sophistication that would not normally be associated with most of this list. Yet they left out Monica Bellucci (who was a witch in the Brothers Grimm), a women who would probably win any poll you put. Especially among this list. Not too name names, but some of these can hardly be described as even moderately attractive.
By seeker5528 at 5:19 PM ON 10/26/09
What about Catherine Bell in 'The Good Witch'?

Later, Seeker
By beggly at 7:57 PM ON 10/26/09
You guys totally disrespect Dark Shadows, don't you? To not include Angelique on your list, either the 1960's or the 1090's version, is a crime.
By LorelC at 8:24 PM ON 10/26/09
Love Veronica Lake, and she's the prettiest of the lot. "I Married a Witch" is a pretty cute show too.
By Stormy at 9:16 PM ON 10/26/09
Um, Harry Dresden, sigh.
By Mandy at 10:28 PM ON 10/26/09
Okay, so what is that now? Three of us want Harry Dresden on here and two want Angelique from Dark Shadows added.
Seems to me this list was written by someone who knows very little about good Gothic / supernatural / fantasy fiction.
It's ironic because 1. Dresden Files has a decent sized cult following. And Paul Blackthorne is a sex symbol. Why do you think he was put on Lipstick Jungle? And 2. Dark Shadows. Come on! It was the first show to ever air on the Scifi Channel. How can you forget this?!
By TREE at 1:35 AM ON 10/27/09
Melissa Joan Hart from Sabrina? Sarah Jessica Parker from Hockus Pockus? Michelle Phiffer from Stardust? Naboo from the Mighty Boosh?
By Mandy at 2:39 AM ON 10/27/09
Umm... HUGE mistake on this list and as a fantasy nerd I must point it out. Mab in the Merlin Mini-series is NOT a witch. She's a sidhe. That's a faery. That's why she talks in that whispery rasp. In some mythology the sidhe can't talk about a whisper. This is why she needs people to believe in her. 'I'll see you fade into nothing!' She's NOT a witch by any means. Faery! Faery! She's the queen of the faeries, mother of Oberon. Check out Brian Froud's book, Good faeries / Bad faeries. She's on the back cover. NOT a witch. You guys leave off Harry Dresden and Angelique Collins but put a FAERY on the list and didn't think we'd notice??! Why didn't anyone else point this out yet? Mab is a FAERY. She's QUEEN of the faeries over Titania. She's Oberon's mother.
I know you guys don't do a lot of research but she's one of the most well known FAERIES in folklore!
By Mandy at 2:42 AM ON 10/27/09
Why do you think Mab was Queen of the old ways? Because she was a faery and NEEDED the old beliefs to sustain her. That's why she talked the way she did. It's a part of an old belief about the sidhe not being able to talk above a whisper. An obscure FAERY legend. Mab though is a well known faery. The voice thing is the obscure part. You put a FAERY on your witch list! For shame! Amateurs
By Sulien at 2:54 AM ON 10/27/09
What's with leaving Harry Dresden off of the list? I know you folks would rather forget you screwed the pooch by canceling the series, but come on, that doesn't make Paul Blackthorne and the character he plays any less hot!
Also, what's with Mab? She's a faerie, not a witch/wizard/warlock, for cryin' out loud!
By Mandy at 3:01 AM ON 10/27/09
THANK YOU! I was starting to feel like I was the only one who noticed Mab didn't belong on this list.
And my, look at all the lovely Dresden Files fans coming to join me. I guess it's the season for us.
Here's my top ten list
1. Harry Dresden (Dresden Files)
2. Angelique Collins (1990s Dark Shadows)
3. Angelique Collins (1960s Dark Shadows)
4. Harry Potter (Mos recent Harry Potter film)
5. Bellatrix (Harry Potter)
6. Morgan (Merlin mini-series)
7. The Sorceress (Beastmaster TV series)
8. Sarah Sanderson (Hocus Pocus)
9. Willow (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)
10. Julian Sands (Warlock)
And as a bonus
11. Jareth, The Goblin King (Labyrinth). You guys slipped a faery Queen of the list so I can add a hot Goblin King!
By 66skylark at 9:27 AM ON 10/27/09
A movie of 'Wicked' is reportedly in the works... Kristin Chenoweth is rumored to reprise her role of Glinda.
That's one good witch!
By Rico at 10:57 AM ON 10/27/09
Sarah Jessica Parker from Hockus Pockus? Are you serious?
The title is 20 hot witches & warlocks, not horsefaces
By hermy at 11:43 AM ON 10/27/09
Here's two more that could have made the list.Nicol Williamson as merlin in Excalibur or Ian Mckellen as Gandolf
By JBHypno at 11:57 AM ON 10/27/09
I can't believe no one mentioned Delia Sheppard as the witch Dolores in Witchcraft 2: The Temptress. I would find her impossible to resist.
By jolinar at 3:02 PM ON 10/27/09
Learn to spell Hocus Pocus people!!!
& btw have you seen Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus... DAMN!!!
By Mandy at 3:05 PM ON 10/27/09
And yet again, Mab is a faery, not a witch...
By AttilaTheNun at 4:22 PM ON 10/27/09
One of your picks is disqualified, I believe; Mab cannot be considered a witch, as she is NOT human. She is, depending on the legend and preferred spelling, a faery, sidhe, or fairy (etc). At any rate, definately NON-human, and as witshes are human ....
By Mandy at 4:55 PM ON 10/27/09
I say replace the Mab mention with Harry Dresden or Angelique Collins or even Professor Snape.
By j3nnee at 8:28 PM ON 10/27/09
If I could make a list of my own:
=Harry Dresden
=Samantha from Bewitched
=Warlock
=Veronica Lake in I married a witch
=Cecil Calloway who played VL's dad in above movie. he was a hoot!
=Sandra Bullock in Practical Magic (forgot it was listed and i do like that movie)
=Merlin from Excalibur
=Harry Potter
Guess that's it for now :D
By Davi at 6:26 AM ON 10/28/09
You can't leave Harry Dresden off this list, Paul Blackthorne was superb, and gorgeous with it
By tjbw at 9:36 AM ON 10/28/09
so, by mentioning only bonnie from "the craft" are we to believe that none of the other witches in that movie are hot? sarah (robin tunney), nancy (fairuza balk) and rochelle (rachel true) not hot? please. the very premise behind the movie 'the craft' means that you should have included all four women just like you did with 'charmed'. bonnie isn't even the most powerful one of the bunch.
and why would a faery be included on this list?
By balkfan1240 at 12:04 AM ON 10/29/09
I agree with other "The Craft" mentions... all of the leads should have been mentioned... certainly not just Neve... she's hot but SO not as hot as Fairuza Balk was in that movie.
By S. at 12:25 AM ON 10/29/09
I used to be obsessed about Charmed! Such a great shou! And the girls were really hot! Number 1 for me!
By Aelswyth at 8:20 PM ON 10/29/09
Tsk, tsk. I'm disappointed in all of you. What about Alan Rickman as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies? He's WAY hotter than any of the wiz kids in those movies.
If you stretch the definition of "witch/warlock" a little, you could also include Terrence Mann as Hrothbert of Bainbridge on The Dresden Files. While Bob is technically a ghost, he's the ghost of a spellcaster, not a blacksmith or farmer.
In no particular order, my list would be:
Alan Rickman as Severus Snape in Harry Potter
Terrence Mann as Hrothbert of Bainbridge on The Dresden Files
Paul Blackthorne as Harry Dresden on The Dresden Files
Alyson Hannigan as Willow on Buffy
Amber Benson as Tara on Buffy
Shannen Doherty as Prue on Charmed
Holly Marie Combs as Piper on Charmed
Lindsay Price as Joanna on Eastwick (TV show)
Veronica Lake as Jennifer in I Married a Witch
Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha on Bewitched
By Mandy at 11:40 PM ON 10/30/09
Aelswyth, I didn't suggest Hrothbert of Bainbridge AKA Bob (though he is a hot older man with an incredible voice) because he's a ghost. He might have been a sorcerer in life but he's a ghost now so I didn't think he'd qualify. If he does count then Hell, yeah, put him on that list.
But I definitely think Harry Dresden should have been on this list.
By Mandy at 11:44 PM ON 10/30/09
And when I say include Hrothbert I'm talking about my own suggested list which is here in the comments somewhere.
