Here's how Universal describes the movie:
Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins),Talbot sets out to find his brother ... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.
Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III) directed The Wolfman, and six-time Oscar-winning special-effects artist Rick Baker brings his design and makeup talents to transform Del Toro into the fearsome title character. The Wolfman opens Feb. 12, 2010.

No one, repeat No one is going to outdo Lon Chaney Jr. It's been tried and each attempt has failed miserably, as I am pretty sure this one will.

You're right...the Chaney version will forever be the best and classic. However, I have hopes for this. Much as Jackson's remake of King Kong was true to the original, I hope this one boasts the same. Curse them if they leave out the poems....even a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers....and though your path was thorny, through no fault of your own...

I have an old trivia that no one has answered. Who was the actor that played the Gypsy man who was the first WOLFMAN that bit Talbot?
Another trivia: Lon Chaney Jr. later plays the part that made this first actor famous. What part was it?
