Secret photo reveals Darth Vader in World War 2

Secret photo reveals Darth Vader in World War 2
Indonesian artist Agan Harahap likes to create interesting political commentary by photoshopping fictional figures into famous photographs. We're not exactly sure what it's all supposed to mean, but it's pretty to look at. Our favorite is this one of Darth Vader at the Yalta Conference in 1945.
Another good one is Batman, below, addressing paratroopers at Greenham Common Airfield in England just before they embark on the invasion of Europe. You can see the rest of his work over here. We first saw it over on The Awesomer.

So Darth Vader was on the side of the Allies, was he? That's interesting. I could definitely see Stalin as the Emperor.

By antodav at 12:49 PM ON 10/15/09

Or Roosevelt, for that matter, too.

“And now, Mr. Stalin, we will discuss the location of your hidden rebel base...”

i dont think those photos real

By CrankyBear at 1:54 PM ON 10/15/09

Dolemite, please tell me you're kidding. Otherwise, I don't think your brain real.

By green11420 at 1:57 PM ON 10/15/09

This confirms all my theories...

Dolemite: Read much? Gone to grammar school? Proof-read what you type?

Actually, the pictures are really great!

@Dolemite: What--you mean we have the technology doctor photographs? Oh, the humanity!

By Des_Shinta at 3:40 PM ON 10/15/09

Oh yeah, this guy. I think he also did one with Zaku's in the background of a Nazi camp.

First of all it's Darth VadEr not VadAr. Second, couldn't he have found a better looking costume to photograph? That Halloween costumed Vader is particularly bad with his Hasbro helmet.

By darkstrad at 8:47 PM ON 10/15/09

he used one of the fat guy faux batmen from the dark knight instead of the actual batman.

I don't know. I think this is really just pretending to be more than those "Bert is Evil" photos that were all the rage up till around 9/11 when a Bert and Bin Laden poster found its way into a rally.

As for the complaints about the image selection (halloween vader, fake Batman), you can look at it two ways: 1.) he's too lazy to find "good images" to insert into the historic photos or 2.) these images were the only precise shots that fit precisely into the photo.

Honestly the other works on his site outside this "superhero in history theme" are more evocative.

Yeah, Darth Vader is so intimidating with his plastic fisher price light saber.
