I am in dread as to what they have done to my beloved Sherlock Holmes character. Jeremy Brett was the consumate Holmes and cannot be improved upon. This is one re-imaging, reboot, whatever, that I probably won't like or see.

I wouldn't worry about it that much.

There have been (according to IMDB...I was curious) over 100+ entries for Sherlock Holmes alone.

I haven't seen anything so far that will get me to go see it at the show.

Maybe on Blu-Ray, depending on how well it does.

That poster is offensively bad. The film looks fun, though.

so are there sci-fi or fantasy elements to this film?

By FanaticalWhovian at 11:30 AM ON 10/28/09

Jeremy Brett will always be Holmes to me But I still plan on seeing this. I've just accepted that its just a completely different take on Holmes.

As long as they don't overly change the characters I can live with a reboot.

I think I have feeling though when it comes to getting a Holmes fix I'll pop in a Brett dvd.

When Billy Wilder's great film "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes" came out almost 40 years ago there were folks screaming that the film hinted that Holmes and Watson were gay. Maybe we should watch the movie before jumping to conclusions?

WTF is going on with Holme's hair?

Is it me, or does Jude Law just always look like a pretentious little sh**? As for the film, it looks like fluff, but it could possibly be mildly entertaining.

Jeremy Brett?? How about Basil Rathbone.

Besides, they're attempting to be more faithful to the characters of the book in this film; rather than the proper Holmes and bumbling Watson, Holmes will be more of the bohemian dog and Watson the experienced war vet.

Not a good poster. For some reason I'm getting a Will Smith/Kevin Kline "Wild, Wild West" vibe from it.

By kewaynco at 1:06 PM ON 10/28/09

Robert Downey Jr sure has enough experience with drugs to portray the cocaine-using-because-he's-bored Holmes.

Oh God, what did they do to RDJ's face? Time for the visual department to stop humping Photoshop.

/e hugs up to her various Sherlock Holmesian vids and books and stuff ...

Love Rathbone--until I saw Brett. Brett IS Holmes, and I doubt anyone will ever do him better. He had every little nuance down!

The actor who play Dr. House would have been a super Holmes.

Wait a minute. Since when is Sherlock Holmes science fiction? Is this some kind of steampunk/gaslamp fantasy re-imagining?
