New Clash of the Titans trailer is balls-out action! (video)

Heard that they're remaking Clash of the Titans? Well, forget the stately pace, white robes and fluffy hair of the 1981 Harry Hamlin movie: This new version will be a kick-ass, balls-out actioner, and the newly released teaser trailer gives us a taste of that.

The new movie, starring Terminator Salvation and Avatar's Sam Worthington, is chock-full of monsters, mythical creatures, giant scorpions, dizzying sword fights and snake-headed Gorgons, brought to you by director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk). And, yes, don't blink or you'll miss Liam Neeson in full armor as Zeus.

We're pumped! (Where's Bubo?)

Clash of the Titans opens March 26, 2010; look for SCI FI Wire's set visit report soon!

This freakin awesome!!! I never expected a classic like this to be a remake. Cool!!!

By splinter at 9:08 PM ON 11/10/09

Man, I want this movie to be awesome! I just hope it is less Michael Bay and more Peter Jackson. Give us good writing (or at least decent writing) and action scenes that are easy to discern.

By dakalmog at 9:10 PM ON 11/10/09

What a great trailer! :) I really only enjoyed the first one because of the wonderful Ray Harryhausen effects, but this could be a lot of fun. I thought Sam Worthington was one of the best things about Terminator Salvation.

By Kraken at 9:17 PM ON 11/10/09

I am so glad that this movie is being re-made. The original is one of my all time favorites, and with current cgi technology, this movie will be awesome!!

By meamascifi at 9:43 PM ON 11/10/09

oooh! awesome man...cant wait!!!

By shadow at 10:01 PM ON 11/10/09

This movie is going to rock Mount Olympus!

By REDante at 10:04 PM ON 11/10/09

love the trailer, didnt care for the music.

By daget at 10:10 PM ON 11/10/09

really like the trailer!!!!

By Silverdire at 10:13 PM ON 11/10/09

Awww...I miss Harryhausen. Hopefully the remake will try to incorporate some character development and emotion rather than non-stop action with no plot (yeah, yeah, I'm a girl...sue me).

By LA Gurl at 10:47 PM ON 11/10/09

I love the trailer!! AND I love the music!! I CAN'T WAIT!!

By Cashewchikn at 10:51 PM ON 11/10/09

i LOVED the original!!! i should watch it tomorrow!!! also, the song in the trailor is "The Bird And The Worm" by The Used. lol minus the singing and a little more bang :) great song, great movie.

By MockingbirdGirl at 11:05 PM ON 11/10/09

300 meets Xena. Meh.

By a different tim at 11:18 PM ON 11/10/09

This is a remake I am glad they did, Loved the original and looking forward to seeing the differences and the action!

By Blue247 at 12:23 AM ON 11/11/09

All I have to say is..."RELEASE THE KRACKEN!"

By Leto_II at 1:48 AM ON 11/11/09

Good Lord! Battlestar Galactica, G.I. Joe, Transformers, V, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, now Clash of the Titans...my entire childhood is being rebooted! (Though that trailer does look pretty freakin' promising.)

By Franklin Harris at 1:49 AM ON 11/11/09

Yeah, I prefer not to have 300 mixed in with my Clash of the Titans.

By classy at 3:09 AM ON 11/11/09

ill watch anything with sam worthington,

this movie looks good

@ franklin harris, 300 nor titans is yours, nerds seem to think they are entitled to everything

By Tarc at 4:27 AM ON 11/11/09

Sorry, this looks like total crap. The original was cheesy simply due to the state of special effects, but it was respectful of the material (essentially a human story for all time). This looks like a kiddie, anime/cartoony, gravity defying, cheap-fake-CGI half-attempt. Very, VERY disappointed.

By FresnoTimeLord at 4:28 AM ON 11/11/09

Release The Kraken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By diesel at 7:34 AM ON 11/11/09

Cool. It looks like it is going to be a hit / block buster.

I like Louis Leterrier work so far.

By hyperwraith at 7:41 AM ON 11/11/09

Are they seriously going to use "Titans... Will... Clash" as their tag line? Is that really the best they can come up with?

By Red Mask at 8:12 AM ON 11/11/09

What's wrong with Titans...will...clash. People get the message, right? This isn't the good old days.

By Moravec at 8:13 AM ON 11/11/09

Let's all remember that one minute and six seconds of action trailers are always deceiving.

By darkwatch1977 at 8:21 AM ON 11/11/09

So what if it looks like 300. 300 was a bad ass movie, the original Clash of the Titans was a bad ass movie. If you mix the two, well, you do the math.

By Ric at 8:42 AM ON 11/11/09

I see movies to be entertained. If I want a deep plot and/or awesome writing, I'll read a book. This looks entertaining.

By gorehound696 at 8:45 AM ON 11/11/09

The original is good enough for me.I do not care about how good this will look cause we now have computers and CGI.....................who cares cause the original had a great story and the story is important at least to me it is.
and you have to wonder why they can't just do an original movie based in these times and the old myths.lots of cool ideas could of been used to make an awesome and new film but no hollywood can't even take the time to create a truly cool and original film and that is the bummer for me.
do yourself a favor and watch some episodes of clash of the gods and you will see what i mean.

By Virgil's Diner at 9:17 AM ON 11/11/09

I kind of agree with gorehound. There's so much story and character in Greek mythology that to remake the same story seems a bit of a cop out. Use the Clash of the Titans brand for audience recognition, but give us something new. Ditch the giant scorpion and give us a minotaur! (I know, I know - there's a minotaur in Percy Jackson - but I think you get my point.)

By a different tim at 9:19 AM ON 11/11/09

Ok thats it. Stop hating a film before it even comes out! Lets not forget that the guy who directed this gave us the latest Hulk movie which was actually good this time. AND he is one of Luc Bessons proteges so I trust this guy. Jeez!

By Tarc at 11:07 AM ON 11/11/09

Sorry, but classic Greek mythology and wire-fu/cartoonish CGI are NOT a good combination, and I have no need to wait for the film to pass judgement on the approach show in the trailer. I'm really, REALLY disappointed.

By MetalPause at 11:43 AM ON 11/11/09

What, no Bubo?! Totally kidding! Looks AMAZING!!!

By Falconer at 11:48 AM ON 11/11/09

AWRIIIIIIGHT! Finally a remake worthy of being done (in a world... where 99% of them are NOT.) Mainly, considering how the first Clash of the Titans SUCKED VACUUM (sorry, Harryhausen, but it did), I am definitely going to see this one!

By jdmimic at 3:15 PM ON 11/11/09

Does it worry anyone else that most of those shots seemed to come from just a couple of scenes? Unless they fight a whole bunch of giant scorpions, a lot of the clips were from that one scene. Or am I the only one who noticed that?

By Garbage at 3:57 PM ON 11/11/09

Looks like a slightly better scifi original movie. Now the prince of persia trailer...well that looks a hell of a lot better.

By silverrose at 4:04 PM ON 11/11/09

why redo clash when God of War needs to be made. Kratos Rules

By shadow at 9:56 PM ON 11/11/09

I AM ZEUS...HEAR ME ROAR!

By splinter at 10:00 PM ON 11/11/09

"Lets not forget that the guy who directed this gave us the latest Hulk"

That's right! This is a director who does know how to film good action sequences. I am even more excited for it now. I did love the original version when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago, and it just does not hold up today beyond being charming in a campy way. Remember folks this is a retelling an old story, not simply a remake of only one previous version. Just as I am glad there is a new version of the Batman mythos from Christopher Nolan, I am quite happy to see a new version of Perseus' story (although I would also welcome a God of War movie as well).

By shadow at 10:09 PM ON 11/11/09

Peter Jackson should direct God of War.

By Oxen Free at 11:56 PM ON 11/11/09

WORDS. WILL. FLY. AT. YOUR. FACE. This looks loud and noisy, far from the original...I'm kinda sad but I'm seeing it anyway

By Greg Delaney at 12:44 AM ON 11/12/09

the video's a little jumpy but holy crap that looks awesome - Liam Neeson FTW

By bendroid at 3:09 AM ON 11/12/09

Y'know... there were a lot of little bits in the trailer that were reminiscent of the original Clash of the Titans (one of my all time childhood favorites along with TRON). It actually looks like this will be a worthwhile remake. This along with TRON Legacy will make for a good year for me!

By Virgil's Diner at 8:58 AM ON 11/12/09

Why do the Greek gods look like they were plucked from John Boorman's 1981 Arthurian porn classic "Excalibur? (Which, coincidentally, starred Liam Neeson as Gawain...)

By MasterOfWeird at 12:42 PM ON 11/12/09

Looks good but it better have the machine owl in it!

By torque at 12:57 PM ON 11/12/09

Should be krakentastic!

By suprememango at 2:13 PM ON 11/12/09

It's looks really really good. But I also want that cute machine owl. He was adorable.

By merikeyrice at 4:17 PM ON 11/12/09

Who actually said that mixing Greek mythology with CGI is a bad idea? How the hell else are you gonna capture the grand scope of the imagery without it? How do you propose they have Medusa or giant scorpions? Stop motion claymation? Enough complaining already.

By skyhawk at 10:42 PM ON 11/12/09

Love it! The original is a guilty pleasure, as well as Beastmaster (Somebody please reimage it to Andre Norton's novel!)

By Terry Tetanus at 4:36 PM ON 11/13/09

Who needs Harryhausen and his phoney baloney looking puppets when you can have uber cool CGI??? I hope the acting is better than the original - the old dude who played Zeus was a really lame actor!

By cylonbluerabbit at 8:32 PM ON 11/14/09

can't wait

By Asfandyar at 9:09 AM ON 11/18/09

Looking good, plus cool music used for the trailer. Does anyone knows the name of the artist and the music.
