I have a dog. I don't think of him as naked.
Talk about bait and switch.
By boh at 2:29 PM ON 11/02/09
yep, definitely wanting to get you to read it.
the movie looks a pile of crap.
By Stephan at 2:50 PM ON 11/02/09
They just look like Bears or Wolves the size of Bears... I thought a werewolf is supposed to be a mix between a man and a wolf? Whatever.
Just to say, the clothing gets ripped off when they transform into wolves. I mean, you can obviously see that.

I think this one may be better then the first! :) I can't wait to see it! :)

I don't know what trailers YOU'VE been watching, boh, but this movie looks awesome to me! It will definitely be better than the first movie.
By TwilightBites at 7:47 PM ON 11/02/09
Like OMG this movie looks sooo awesome and that Robert Pattison is soo dreamy. I'll have him come over and bite my neck, like, anytime. LOL. And to, like, all you haters out there, like, OMG, u're so jealous. Like get a life.
Ick.
Seriously. The books and movie bite. As fiction it's as disposable as chewed up gum and as movies it's as fluffy as wadded up toilet paper ready for a swipe. Ugh. "Like, OMG, Twilight..."

Those that have read the books know they are not werewolves but shape shifters, traditional werewolves do exist in the story line but are only mention briefly in the last book.
By Spaceman Spiff at 10:09 PM ON 11/02/09
Actually in the original legends a werewolf is a man that transforms into a wolf. the human wolf hybrid is a modern variation.

"TwilightBites" post is typical of the shallow narcissistic nerds that plague this place. Nothing to say except "Look at me! I'm so cool and cynical." What have you ever created, TB? Apart from bile...

'Those that have read the books know they are not werewolves but shape shifters, traditional werewolves do exist in the story line but are only mention briefly in the last book.'
This statement bothers me as someone who has studied the occult for years.
I grieve for anyone who thinks that Twilight covers anything 'real' in regard to lycanthrope legends. In most old folklore the change is into literal wolves and by will. Don't correct anyone without doing REAL research outside of a badly written young adult novel, please.

Why are all you muppets that don't like Twilight even looking at these articles? Are your lives that sad that you have nothing better to do that read articles you don't like and slate them?
By robeuax at 8:37 AM ON 11/03/09
Traditional in cinema was what I was talking about, 1941 to present. As for ANCIENT history , there are examples of both as far back as 2,000 BC. I find this back and forth interesting but nothing to get worked up over.
By Iis4island at 8:51 AM ON 11/03/09
I really don't care about the books or the movies, but watching the haters and the Twihards clash on the comment boards is more fun than watching ECW! That's right fans, I just circuitously compared Twilight to professional wrestling! Gnaw on that biscuit for awhile.

@Mandy
What's it like up there on your high horse? Is the weather fairer than for those of us peons who exist below your self-proclaimed realm of knowledge concerning the occult? Really, I see your excessive comments on every post concerning werewolves, vampires, etc and all of them sound harsh, arrogant, belittling…take your pick. I’m not trying to take the wind from your sails, but surely you can make your comments without stepping on those that have made comments before you?
To stay on topic, I’m looking forward to viewing the movie (no, I do not consider myself a Twilight fan). I enjoy the twists current movies/books are putting on mythology and legends.

@ Eva, Mandy's heart was in the right place so don't get to insulted.
Anyways these wolves are more along the line of the Native American myths surrounding skin walking and not traditional european inspired werewolves. I should also like to say the werewolves are way cooler than prissy little vampires (minus the guy from forever knight). Just that I'd throw that out there.
By jdmimic at 1:58 PM ON 11/05/09
I agree that one should try to be civil in discussions, I can understand Mandy's frustration. I haven't seen the movies nor looked at the books in depth, so I can't say whether or not Tim is correct. They certainly do have similarities to the Native American skin walkers, but in those stories, they often had to have a piece of the animal. It was based in magic, not a supernatural ability either inborn nor gained through a bite or curse (although I am not ssaying this is true for all of them). But all the early European stories I have read concerned people changing into normal wolves. The man-wolf transition is a relatively new entrant into the field as far as I have seen. Of course, there were other transition forms in different types of lycanthropes. But to clarify, both types exist in folklore for a long time and are called werewolves. Separating them out into "shapeshifters" versus "werewolves" is not correct, as werewolves are by definition shapeshifters, they are a subset.
I do find it interesting how much of our "knowledge" of things these days comes from entertainment venues rather than research (e.g. Vikings did NOT have horns on their helmets).
