Official trailer for Prince of Persia now online

Official trailer for \<i\>Prince of Persia\<\/i\> now online

The new trailer for Disney's upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is now live on MySpace.com and embedded below.

The trailer gives a good idea of the movie's look and feel.

Sort of Tomb Raider meets The Mummy meets National Treasure and a lot of mumbo-jumbo about time travel and magic daggers and an English-accented Jake Gyllenhaal. And are those supposed to be Persians?

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, based on the video game, opens in spring 2010.

the action is more like prince of persia / assassin's creed hybrid

pop is an epic game (if you ever tried it), actually its one of the most famous games of all times, you can hardly find anyone who disliked it.
im not trying to say the the movie should be great since the game is great because we all know that its usually the contrary that happens, example: doom etc...

the "sands of time" episode has a great plot and story, calling that mmbo jambo on a SciFi site is kind of both ridiculous and disrepectful, i think this article is the real mambo jambo.

hard to believe they can get away with making a politically incorrect film these days. I am surprised there is not a flood of protesting that hollywood is portraying Persians with white Americans. Thumbs up just for political incorrectness in this world of thin skinned politically correct douchebags that can't see something as just a movie. I will go see it either way. But big thumbs up for not caring what the protesting action groups think.

Two thumbs up to anachronite's comment.

I am DEFINITELY going to see this movie. I vaguely remember playing Prince of Persia as a kid—I think it was actually in the pre-Nintendo days, on a Commodore 64 or an Apple IIe...but either way it looks amazing.

Now...how about a Legend of Zelda movie? Hey?!

A Persian character played by an American actor doing an English accent...

I love the look of it though. PoP: SoT is one of the best games ever made, and this looks like a legitimately good adaptation. I just hope they keep the same tone for the inevitable sequel(s). I can't stand Warrior Within.

Honestly, this looks better than I thought it would. Time to pull out all the old games....

I agree with anachronite. But I also wonder if Iran (formally Persia) will protest this like they did with 300, or praise saying that this game is a true depiction of their people LOL And I aslo wonder if the people who protest against Iran will protest the movie for gloryfying them.
Other than that, the trailer didn't impress me, but may be worth watching once.

even if it might not be too faithful, it still looks like the film is good enough to stand on it's own

anachronite. and all those who agree with him.

Persians were the first Aryan race.
BLONDE HAIR BLUE EYES.
until they took on asian slaves, and fornicated,
and other stuff.
go argue with any history major.
thats what it is.

but they are trying to portray darker skinned
middleeasterns with Caucasians.
but thumbs up for not giving a crap!

They're using an American solely because there isn't an A list actor in Hollywood of Persian descent. If they thought they could still get the audience draw with an unknown that they will with Gyllenhaal, they would have gone with a someone of a more appropriate ethnic background.

I can't believe this argument is still going on. (Well, actually, I can believe it, knowing humans are humans...) This is a work of fiction, based on a game. Neither has at anytime that I'm aware of, claimed to be historically accurate. Why haven't there been protests of inaccuracy in the games? Gyllenhaal actually looks like the game character. One might as well protest that a dagger controlling time is totally ridiculous. This is meant to be pure fantasy, nothing else, and should be taken as such.

Trailer looks great, it looks like they've captured some of the feel of the games. Looking forward to it.
