One of the joys of any production from Sam Raimi or his longtime producing partner Rob Tapert—Spider-Man, Xena, Hercules—is the guest appearance of Raimi's irrepressibly goofy brother, Ted, so it's with great pleasure that we learn the erstwhile Joxer will make a return appearance on Raimi/Taper's newest TV show, the syndicated fantasy Legend of the Seeker.
Yay!
Ted's the latest in a line of great guest stars we're promised this year on the surprisingly entertaining show, starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Charisma Carpenter in the season opener.
We've posted the official announcement below.
FAN FAVORITE TED RAIMI RETURNS TO "LEGEND OF THE SEEKER"Reprises His Guest-Starring Role as Magic Peddler Sebastian
Burbank, CA, November 18, 2009 - Ted Raimi ("Drag Me to Hell," "Spider-Man 3," "SeaQuest DSV"), actor and brother of "Legend of the Seeker" executive producer Sam Raimi, will guest star in an upcoming episode of the epic fantasy series "Legend of the Seeker," it was announced today. Raimi, who begins filming in New Zealand this week, will reprise his role as Sebastian, the fast-talking, shady mapmaker and magic peddler who teams up with Zedd's brother Thaddicus to sell a magical cure for Banelings -- evil souls returned from the underworld.Currently in its second season, "Legend of the Seeker" combines elements of fantasy, adventure, magic, mystery and romance with state-of-the-art visual effects and a high level of action. The series is an adaptation of internationally best-selling author Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth book series and stars Craig Horner as Richard, Bridget Regan as Kahlan, Bruce Spence as Zedd and Tabrett Bethell as Cara. "Legend of the Seeker" is from the talented team behind the long-running, successful series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess," and the studio that produces primetime network hits including "Lost," "Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Army Wives." The series is produced by ABC Studios and distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. Ken Biller, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Ned Nalle and Josh Donen serve as executive producers. I really enjoy Legend of the Seeker. I thought it would be cornball slapstick like Xena or Hercules but Seeker definitely has a more serious tone to it.
It also just showed up on Netflix to play online or stream to the Xbox 360 in HD. Good stuff.

Glad to see Joxer returning to Sam-Raimi-syndicated land! Always look forward to seeing Ted's cameos.

I think Ted Raimi and Clint Howard should make a buddy-cop movie together

He was in Darkman as well, and the Evil Dead films.

wow? The show made it past the first season? HOW? This show is nothing like what it should've been. Zed's brother? WTF? He didn't have one...and i won't even start with how the Mord-Sith are handled. i watched ten minutes of the first episode and nearly had a cardiac event.
This show show burn in the firey pits of the underworld...

@After_Forever you're at the unfortunate disadvantage of having read the books. for those of us who haven't had the pleasure of the sword of truth series, this show is thoroughly enjoyable with just the right mix of action, drama, sex and humour. plus, richard is hot!

Personally I think the book isn't handled badly. It's different (this IS a tv show afterall) but the main themes are preserved. Overall, the show came as a shock to me - entertaining, decent action and effects, some solid storylines (particularly outside of the filler eps) and the characters have found their feet since the opening few...er...disasters.
The second season actually seems to have carried forward the the attitude from the brilliant second half of the first season.
On another note - I am not suprised this gem is more watchable than the twin horrors of V and Flashforward. Maybe the ABC involvement is some sort of training mechanism on how to spin a series that actually entertains for once?

Ted's always good value. I just heard he's going to Twitter while he shoots his episode.
