We've got the new trailer and a few stills (in the gallery below) for Daybreakers, the upcoming sci-fi-ish vampire movie from Undead creators Peter and Michael Spierig.
Now, don't be that way: It's not a Twilight/Vampire Diaries thing, but rather more of a dark Blade III/Blade Runner sort of take on the genre.
Starring Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke, the movie is set in the Blade Runner year of 2019, when vampires have taken over and hunt humans for food. As vampires ready an industrialized form of blood farming (a la David Goyer's Blade III), a new group of vampires discovers something that could save the human race.
The movie opens Jan. 8, 2010. What do you think? Or are you so sick of vampires now you just want to drive a stake through its heart?

Finally vampires doing what they were meant to do. Die.

Not sick of vampires. Just sick of kids taking over the adult fare that is vampires.

Oh, yeah. I saw this ad in the cinema. It looked scary! The actors are all respectable. I never normally see vampire movies, but I'm definitely in!

Sick of Vamps? No. Sick of Twilight, Vampire Diaries and True Blood? You bet Your stinking ass I am. I want a real Vampire movie again! Not a bunch of tweens pining over stupid creepy creatures that they think are romantic just because the auther threw out Vampire mythology. Stupid tweens. Stupid Twilight. Bring on Daybreak!

Now this is a vampire flick I actually wanna see.

Anyone know what the song is and who sings it? I'm kinda liking it!
By Kawt at 3:44 PM ON 11/20/09
The song is "Running up that hill" and is performed by Placebo, but it's a cover, dunno who made the original.
And FYI, the movie looks sweet.
By glindy at 4:01 PM ON 11/20/09
The original Running Up That Hill was done by Kate Bush in the 80's. Very different than the Placebo cover in the trailer but both are beautiful songs.
Oh, and I'd feed myself to an actual vampire just to not have to see any more garbage like Twilight. Can't wait for Daybreakers!!
By Kakyd at 4:04 PM ON 11/20/09
The original version of 'Running Up That Hill' is by Kate Bush.

It sounds a little bit like the film The Breed with Adrian Paul. That's a highly under-rated and unique vampire film. I love vampires, just not the likes of Edward Cullen. Even Barnabas Collins (from a Soap opera) was a superior vampire.

Finally! A film I can sink my teeth into!
By Iis4island at 7:29 PM ON 11/20/09
I'm really looking forward to this movie. It looks like it will be fun.

I'm not sick of vampires in general, but I am tired of all these new, teen vampires who attend high school at age 100, can walk in the sun, and have no vulnerabilities. I like seeing vampires do that they've traditionally done, so am looking forward to seeing this.

This trailer has already been out for quite some time... I saw it way before I even went to Comic-Con

Can't get sick of Vampires,Werewolves, Zombies or Robots. So long as there is something refreshing to add. But gardamit, TWILIGHT needs to die! Meyer can't write, and half them kids can't act. It's so ridiculous to see those films make money. Dumb teenagers. As for DAYWALKERS...the Spierig brothers kick ass and UNDEAD is still a fave in the Zombie/Comedy genre. If anyone wants to read a good Vamp book, check out Guillermo Del Toro's and Chuck Hogan's 'The Strain'.

Sam Neil and Willem Dafoe?! Nuff said. I'm IN!
By suprememango at 12:00 PM ON 11/23/09
A vampire movie with some action, blood and gratuitous killing. It's about bloody time (pun intended).
And yes Mandy, The Breed wasn't a bad flick at all. Adrian Paul is just too cool for school.

I've seen Daybreakers twice, and I enjoyed it both times. As far as the mythos surrounding vampires, I'm pretty open to them bending and breaking the "rules", including the whole sunlight thing, just as long as they *don't* sparkle.
