Two top Spider-Man villains have allegedly been nailed down for Spider-Man 4, and it's rumored that one more bad guy (or gal) will join them.
Our friends at Mania.com are reporting that Rachel McAdams, soon to be seen in Sherlock Holmes, has been meeting with the film's producers. She's said to be in the running for the role of the Black Cat, a costumed antihero who in the comics has been both a cat burglar and romantic interest for the webslinger.
That's not all—the source also indicates casting is still ongoing for an additional villain. And since the role of the Lizard has already been filled in the previous films by Dylan Baker, that means that there's yet another villain to come.
We know who we'd like to see Sam Raimi and company come up with. How about you?

I would like to see Silvermaine or Scorpion in the next spidy movie.
By metalfan20 at 5:39 PM ON 11/10/09
well it'd be nice to see the shocker or mysterio
By Paul at 5:43 PM ON 11/10/09
These two sound good. Hope Raimi learned his lesson from S3 and doesn't cram in too many subplots.
By diesel at 5:53 PM ON 11/10/09
Black Cat and the Lizard should make for interesting stories. Black Cat is also better suited if he wants to have a love triangle than Gwen.
Sam Raimi will probably do good with these supervillians if he is more familiar with them than he was with Venom. He did great with the Green Goblin, Doc Oc and the Sandman because he was already a fan of those characters.
By Blockbuster_Joe at 5:59 PM ON 11/10/09
Hopefully he'll keep Bruce Campbell coming back who will turn out to be Chameleon or Mysterio.
By Psiqueue at 5:59 PM ON 11/10/09
I think any additional villian would have to be a minor one- more of a nuisance then villian. I picture Spiderman stopping a bank robbery, with Shocker as the bank robber. Just for fun, have an innocent bystander get knocked into a power line/ transformer and this person ends up becoming Electro..
By Londeaux at 5:59 PM ON 11/10/09
I hope it's not Rachel McAdams for Black Cat, unless she goes and gets enhanced. She won't pull off a sexy Black Cat. Kind of like Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. By themselves they are beautiful women, but as the cat ladies, they don't give off raw sex appeal. The kind of woman they need for Black Cat (which they should have gotten for Catwoman) is someone who can cause men to put their hands in front of their crotches, from just seeing these women in costume.
Katherine Heigl would make a great Black Cat.
By PALADIN at 6:01 PM ON 11/10/09
Unless Raimi is allowed a 2-Hour run-time, he had best stick to two villains...Even that is pushing it, but The Black Cat is not all that 'vilainess', so she could be the unexpected ally that she became in the comics.
Personally, I would go with :
# 1 THE LIZARD ...He`s been hinted at since the first movie, so it is time for him to get his turn on screen.
#2 THE SCORPION ... It makes perfect 'screen sense ' for J.J.Jameson to sponsor threat to Spider-Man at this point--just as he did on the comics.
# 3 KRAVEN THE HUNTER .... Because Spider-Man makes such a great HUNT !
#4 THE SPIDER SLAYER ( Robot )... See # 2 above.

"Katherine Heigl would make a great Black Cat."
Katherine Heigl? Kathrine "Where boners go to die" Heigl? Grey's Ana--(violently pukes)ntomy Katherine Heigl? Kathrine "Swine Flu and Sars had a baby and it's more attractive than" Heigl? Wow. Damn, just wow.
Ok she's now quite that bad. Just most of her movies.
By Mandy at 6:24 PM ON 11/10/09
What? No love for Morbius: The Living Vampire? Marvel's first vampire.
By BLUE247 at 6:29 PM ON 11/10/09
I say Kraven. You can't get any badder than a villain who has buried Petey alive.
By Mandy at 6:31 PM ON 11/10/09
Londeaux, how misogynistic! Like you could get either.
By green11420 at 6:32 PM ON 11/10/09
I thought Black Cat was already confirmed. And I thought Eliza Dushku got the part.
I wonder where I heard that.
By MrKaine at 6:35 PM ON 11/10/09
Bruce Campbell as Kraven the Hunter would be awesome.
By Bismo at 6:36 PM ON 11/10/09
Here's an idea, how about sticking with just ONE frakkin' villain in one of these?
By wink at 6:37 PM ON 11/10/09
I'd like to see Carnage...they already had Venom...so it would be an easy plot move and then you could add two villians...didn't the Doc have some "venom" it would be so easy to have the doc turn into the lizard and unleash venom...turning into Carnage!!
By Dogmeister at 6:46 PM ON 11/10/09
With the current Vampire craze, how about Morbius? He had a great story line with the Lizard in the comics.
By Praetor ShinzonII at 6:47 PM ON 11/10/09
I thought Raimi said he made a mistake having too many villians - so he's going to do it again?
By thunderstud at 6:59 PM ON 11/10/09
One word to rule them all: ELECTRO! ELECTRO! ELECTRO! ELECTRO!!!!! (As long as he doesn't have that stupid mask he used to wear in the comics/cartoons. Blech!)
By ShaunR at 7:21 PM ON 11/10/09
I always had the feeling that Scarlett Johansson would be a good choice for Black Cat even before Spider-Man 3 was made. But since she's been cast as Black Widow in Iron Man 2, I don't see that happening now.
By demoncat at 7:36 PM ON 11/10/09
besides the Lizard finaly i want to see Kraven or the chameleon pop up and finaly be given some big screen due or sam pull a cue and get the king pin pop up .
By zzbickyzz at 7:45 PM ON 11/10/09
How about one villain Mr. Sam Raimi, the formula of multiple villains isn't working (i.e. X-men 3, Spiderman 3)..
What happened to good ole fashion story telling, now we get movies with villains dying within a few minutes after introduction....sad.
By asfm at 8:19 PM ON 11/10/09
I've wanted to see Lizard ever since Curt Connors popped up. I really hope they don't recast Dylan Baker. He's fantastic.
I'd wanted to see Kraven and Lizard together though, with Kraven hunting Lizard and spidey trying to juggle helping Lizard against Kraven while also trying to stop Lizard. Thought that would be pretty awesome.
Cool about Black Cat, but I don't think she's a bad guy. I can imagine spidey being up against her early on, but be working with her before the scene is over.
By Tbone 0726 at 10:14 PM ON 11/10/09
Electro was always my favorite, can't wait to see who it will be though?
By Mandy at 10:15 PM ON 11/10/09
Dogmeister, Morbius has always been my favourite Marvel anti-hero. And he's more of a real vampire than Edward Cullin could hope to be.
By shadow at 10:24 PM ON 11/10/09
I would like to see RHINO appear as the Third villian.
By xgalahad55 at 11:11 PM ON 11/10/09
RINO-RINO-RINO-RINO!!!!!!!!!!!!GORE-GORE-GORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Pretty_Ricky at 11:45 PM ON 11/10/09
Personally, I think that Erica Durance (Lois from Smallville) would make a great Black Cat
By Tarc at 4:34 AM ON 11/11/09
Katherine Heigl would be amazing as Black Cat, but I doubt that she'd do it (probably wisely). I pretty much loathe multi-villain movies now - they never work - so I'm growing less interested in the movie the more I hear.
By misteredj at 5:21 AM ON 11/11/09
Kraven would be a logical choice to come into town to hunt the Lizard. I know everbody is over her but Megan Fox does have the body for the Cat
By Marcus at 7:48 AM ON 11/11/09
Rachel McAdams? I heard Eliza Dushku got the part. Actually Rami reserved it for her since she literally hand picked Tobey mcguire as Peter Parker.
I hope she didn't turn down the part
By Tubes at 8:49 AM ON 11/11/09
Mysterio! Campbell! Mysterio! Campbell! Am I getting through? Mysterio! Campbell!
By Virgil's Diner at 8:55 AM ON 11/11/09
The villains all need to fit together, or else we get the mess that is Spiderman 3. If Lizard is indeed confirmed, then "the hunt" becomes a logical thematic choice. As Spidey hunts the Lizard, Kraven hunts Spidey. And, no, I don't know how to shoehorn Black Cat into there.
By w0lfm4n at 10:10 AM ON 11/11/09
I like Kraven the hunter as the main nemesis. Keep the story focused on Spidey. That said, I was never fond of the "wild Kingdom" era with Rhino and Scorpion et al. Doc Oc was alright, the Goblin was the best villain in the films to date.
CGI is good, but there is something about a real human as the villain, the Lizard would work but once they go all CGI its going to be the same mess that Sandman and Venom were.
There is no way Kingpin could be used in the Spidey Franchise, he was used in Daredevil which wasn't done under Sony and the film rights prohibit them from crossing over... Too Bad.
Here's an idea Spidey Vs. Syfy's Captcha
By Taiso at 11:05 AM ON 11/11/09
Personally, I'd prefer they stick with one villain. The first two movies only needed a single villain and that worked out fine. I guess the studio execs don't see there being enough toys to manufcture with only one villain.
If I had my way, I'd choose the Rhino. I've always thought a scene of him charging down the street knocking cars aside would just be balls out awesome. Plus, this is a villain Spidey will have to be creative to defeat. He can't just web him up or hit him.
Actually, they had this conundrum with Sandman but the third movie was such a mess that any potential that movie had for a compelling fight with the villain was pissed down their leg.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Sandman return in the fourth movie.
Black Cat is perfectly fine as a character for the movie. Someone that can prowl rooftops as good as Spidey would make for some compelling scenes, and the tension in the relationship between Spidey and MJ over this new paramour would be fascinating, if handled properly.
The Lizard has always been a cool villain for Spidey, and I have no problem with them using him.
Electro would have been fine too.
Mysterio, played by Bruce Campbell would be killer too.
Or Kraven.
Even Kingpin. I hate the fact that they messed him up by using him in Daredevil. That was just a mistake.
All of the suggestions in this thread have been great so far, and I normally not so magnanimous in my comments over here at SyFy Wire.
Just don't cram too many of them in, Mr. Raimi. One villain from any of the above and the Black Cat would be all we need, really.
By pcch7 at 11:24 AM ON 11/11/09
hopefully Kraven.. And if Katherine Heigl would be Black Cat, I wouldn´t watch this movie..
By Comic Historian at 2:53 PM ON 11/11/09
Want to go completely off the reservation? How about famed Spiderman Bad Guy.. The Punisher! At least as a cameo bad guy.
By CAG at 4:13 PM ON 11/11/09
Kraven definitely gets my vote! How about Hobgoblin even! lets get really wild and throw in the power cosmic!!
By Mitchrapp at 4:57 PM ON 11/11/09
I'd rather they speed up Iron man 2-3-4-109714685 before making another stupid Spider-Man movie
Tobey McGuire is the worst actor in the world.
By bendroid at 3:21 AM ON 11/12/09
Kraven! Yes... this is the one villain I could see tying spidey, black cat and Lizard together in decent story... I agree that this many characters is walking a tight rope, but theses particular character could work. anyone else or anyone more would fail.
By Duke at 2:38 PM ON 11/12/09
The Vulture would make a good villain. But make him scary like Heath Ledger's Joker.
By Jeff77042 at 3:35 PM ON 11/12/09
Slightly off the subject: I'd like to see a "Marvel Team-Up" of Spiderman and the Human Torch.
By Chancellor Konn at 5:10 PM ON 11/25/09
Raimi has stated in Spidey 3 interviews that he would like to use Mysterio. I can really see Dushku pulling off Black Cat. Sex appeal and attitude - meow!
By Ojex13 at 6:09 PM ON 12/04/09
So far this movie is turning out to be exactly what I expected. Dylan Baker is coming back to be Dr. Connors (though not necessarily the Lizard, but Im getting my hopes up anyway). Now we allegedly have the Black Cat. I honestly hope they don't count her as a villain. She hasn't been a villain in the comics for a long time. if you ask me, she could fight Spidey once in the films opening sequence where she tries to break her father out otu prison, and from there she'll start flirting with Spidey.
If you ask me, Kraven is needed for this movie just to keep with the animal feel. I honestly think Bruce Campbell would make a good Kraven, and theyve already said he'd have a bigger role in this movie. They also said that the villain would be a new york icon... well get this, in the Ultimate Spiderman comics, Kraven is a reality TV star.
so yeah, Lizard, Black Cat, and Kraven I think are the best choices for the movie, so long as Black Cat isn't really a villain but an ally/love interest.

Michelle Pfeiffer was 100 times better as Catwoman than Halley Berry, although she's certainly too old for the part now. Heigl would be fine in the role. The Lizard would be an excellent villain for the next movie. As for McGuire being "the worst actor in the world"? You are the biggest moron in the world. That honor belongs to Casper Van Dien from Starship Troopers.
