If you hated Terminator Salvation and thought you could make a better movie in your sleep, well, here's your chance: Rights to the franchise are up for sale, and all you need is a cool $200 mil.
According to DailyFinance.com:
The rights to the franchise are being sold by Halcyon Company, the production company behind Terminator Salvation, the latest iteration in the series, which grossed $380 million worldwide. The two most recent films failed to garner the acclaim of the first two films, which struck a chord with many fans who saw the series as a metaphor for humanity's increasing reliance on computers and technology.
The last movie, as you recall, was directed by Charlie's Angels' McG and starred a ranting and raving Christian Bale and a glowering Sam Worthington. The film featured cool visual effects but left a lot of fans cold.
If you want to snap up the rights, though, you'd better get your cash together: All the big film studios have expressed interest, with Sony Pictures a leading contender.

Wait, I thought McG was making a trilogy of these crapfest movies. What happened to that trainwreck

If I were James Cameron I would jumping on this like white on rice. He is the only one who has done this series justice in my opinion.

Just because Ahnold was not the main guy in the last movie everyone was kicking and screaming about how bad this movie was. I watched this movie in the theater and it was a decent movie. Besides bringing in 380 million worldwide isnt small potatoes. With the rights being sold (yet again), I am guessing that the proposed trilogy has been shut down. Its just as well, now all the fan boys can move onto something else to whine about.

Who the hell would want to buy the Terminator rights? This is a franchise that has been run right into the ground, and was never that good to start with. The second film only did so well at the box office because of the advances in CGI at that time which people wanted to see - not because it was a particularly good story.

meh, salvation was miles better than the crapfest of the original trilogy. it was actually a proper war-film with actual endoskeletons, and unlike the previous ones they didnt look all clean and shiny. The next two should be more epic and brutal, but it was a damn good start to a new trilogy.
Terminator fanboys always sucked though so its no surprise that people are still moaning it wasnt terminator 2 two.

The first two terminator are great, im surprised to see here comments like should have stopped after the first, and some [trolls probably] actually say Salvation was great.
The first few watches of T:S in theater were decent, but after a few times you will find how shitty the film REALLY was, i would never buy it on dvd it best with 1 or 2 views at most.
After a few views i realize how crappy the film looks, the post apocalypse world there looks nothing like camerons view. The supposed great deleted scenes SUCK, and no you do not get to see Moon bloodgoods boobs, she has them covered up and marcus just stares at her awkwardly. All the deleted scenes they put back in look forced and silly.

T4 was a good movie in my opinion I couldn't give a damn if anyone disagrees. And TS did pretty decent in theaters it was only 20 mill short from breaking even. Sorry, but not everything can be such a major success as "Titanic"
I hope whoever gains the rights does better than Halcyon Company because whoever gives up after 1 friggin film doesn't deserve success. T4 may have lacked on a few things, but at least it returned to it's serious roots aside from T3 which truely did suck.
This better not effect T5 or T6, whoever buys the rights should be required to sign a contract obligating them to finish the trilogy, I don't care who the director is just as long as it's finished. It would also help if Bale returns they've changed John Connor too many times.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I liked this movie because now I do have a trilogy. Terminator, T2, and now Terminator Salvation. I really didnt like T3. And Terminator Salavation was so much better that I find it a worthy replacement.
Speaking of T3.....I was watching transformers 2 again and looking at that Decepticon Terminator chick.....my first thought was, where were you when T3 came out, you shouldve been the TX.
LOL

I agree that who ever ever purchases the rights should continue the story from where it left off in TS.
Terminator was always leading up to the arrival of John Connor. Sarah was only in the story to prepare John to be this great savior. To not give fans the whole story would be a disservice.

Definitely whoever buys it should make a sequel that starts right after T2. Forget the last 2 movies, right from T2 and pay out the ass to get Cameron involved. Profit will be huge.

start from the end of TSCC. Do a movie, then a season, then a movie, then a season. Change the status quo.

I agree with john! I’d rather had TSCC back!
