TV ratings: Every fall sci-fi show compared by number of viewers

TV ratings: Every fall sci-fi show compared by number of viewers
FlashForward was affected by baseball, but for the most part its ratings have stabilized

Each time a new fall TV season rolls around, we take a look at the latest batch of sci-fi series and try to figure out which shows are the winners and which the losers. So we've gathered the ratings for the 2009 television season, listing the shows by number of viewers from most to least.

But remember—numbers aren't everything. ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox need more live viewers than The CW and Syfy for their shows to be considered successful.

And if you're worried about your favorite show, watch it live and watch the commercials. Those initial ratings are still the most important, although terms like "time shift," "DVR +7" and "7 day viewing" are becoming a fact of life we're going to want to embrace, because they're going to keep some of our shows alive.

FlashForward (ABC)

Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET
Last week's ratings: 8.98 million viewers

FlashForward is the closest thing we have to a hit (along with Vampire Dairies) on network TV these days. While this week's ratings were affected by baseball, for the most part the ratings have stabilized after initially dropping, and strong DVR +7 numbers add close to 2 million additional viewers to the show's ratings. If FlashForward stays strong dramatically it has the potential to be the next Lost. ABC feels good enough about the series that it's extended the show's episode commitment to 25.

Ghost Whisperer (CBS)

Fridays at 8 p.m. ET
Last week's ratings: 8.28 million viewers

Fridays have been tough this fall, even for veteran Ghost Whisperer, which still manages to win the night. Still, CBS has big expectations, and these winning ratings may not be good enough for CBS after this year, even with the time shift putting ratings up over 1 million additional viewers. CBS may decide it's time to put one of their stronger shows on Friday and revamp their entire schedule next season, especially since it's been reported that this is NUMB3RS' last year.

Medium (CBS)

Fridays at 9 p.m. ET
Last week's ratings: 7.69 million viewers

The good news is that CBS finally found a show that works between Ghost Whisperer and NUMB3RS. Ratings out of Ghost Whisperer are about as good as could be expected, with live ratings and DVR +7 picking up most of Ghost Whisperer's audience. It's great to see Medium finally find a home.

Fringe (Fox)

Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET
Ratings before baseball: 5.96 million viewers

Fox took a big risk in placing Fringe on Thursdays opposite big guns CSI and Grey's Anatomy, and the series has definitely taken a hit. Still, Fringe is one of the top shows to gain time shift viewers (to the tune of about 2 million a week), and Thursdays has always been a trouble spot for Fox unless there was an American Idol to boost it up. However, Fringe is positively a hit compared to last year's Hole in the Wall and Kitchen Nightmares. The series has a 22-episode order, and it may well find itself in the position of the CW's Supernatural... doing the best the network can hope for in a terrible, terrible timeslot.

Heroes (NBC)

Mondays at 8 p.m. ET
Last week's ratings: 5.86 million viewers

The good news is that Heroes isn't NBC's biggest problem (that'd be Leno). However, even with decent time-shift ratings that add another 1.5 million viewers or so, the ratings aren't good. And it's hard to forget that Heroes' first season averaged nearly 14 million viewers. NBC will certainly air Heroes' 19 episodes, which will complete this year's volume, "Redemption." After that, depending on how the chips fall, it just might be the end of our Heroes.

Eastwick (ABC)

Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET
Last week's ratings: 5.06 million viewers

Eastwick seemed to have some good things going for it. The series is on Wednesdays, rather than on Thursdays or Fridays with most of the rest of our shows. It has three strong actresses and a fun premise. And ABC is calling the show a "quiet success." But the series hasn't caught on, and these days it isn't even beating out NBC's Leno. While Eastwick won't be the first series canceled (that honor goes to The Beautiful Life), it's one of ABC's biggest problems.

The Vampire Diaries (The CW)

Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET
Ratings two weeks ago: 4.19 million viewers

The CW's smartest decision this season was to pick up The Vampire Diaries. The DVR +7 ratings bring the series up to over 5 million viewers, many of them female in the CW's prime demographic. All things considered, this is a huge hit for the CW, and with Twilight fever about to hit in the form of The Twilight Saga: New Moon on Nov. 20, things should only get brighter for The Vampire Diaries.

Supernatural (The CW)

Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET
Ratings two weeks ago: 2.88 million viewers

Supernatural continues to maintain a consistent audience, and it does well with the time-shift numbers. Add to that a small lift in female viewership thanks to CW's new hit, The Vampire Dairies, and things are looking okay for Supernatural. Considering the show's overly competitive timeslot opposite Fringe, CSI AND Grey's Anatomy, it's amazing anybody's left to tune in. However, Supernatural viewers are loyal to their series.

Smallville (The CW)

Fridays at 8 p.m. ET
Last week's ratings: 2.60 million viewers

While ratings aren't as bad as they seem with the series getting a decent DVR boost, the move to Fridays has been a tough one for Smallville. While the producers would be thrilled to have a 10th season, if it is the last year, nine seasons ain't bad.

SGU: Stargate Universe (Syfy)

Fridays at 9 p.m. ET
Ratings from week two: 2.4 million viewers

Stargate Universe has been beating Fox's Dollhouse in the ratings some weeks, and they're not shy about saying so. The time-shift numbers are excellent, too, and Syfy considers this new Stargate one of its hits. However, the series is headed toward a big hiatus after episode 10, and it won't return until spring.

Dollhouse (Fox)

Fridays at 9 p.m. ET
Ratings two weeks ago: 2.15 million viewers

Even fans were shocked when Fox decided to pick up Dollhouse for a second season. The good news is that Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman has said that all 13 episodes of Dollhouse's second season will air. The bad news is that the ratings for Dollhouse have been so bad, even with the time-shift viewing, that Fox has decided to pull the series (along with the rest of their Friday lineup) for November sweeps. The series is scheduled to return Dec. 4, with two episodes airing each Friday. That doesn't bode well for a third season of the Joss Whedon series, but at least this won't be another Firefly.

Sanctuary (Syfy)

Fridays at 10 p.m. ET
Season premiere ratings: nearly 1.9 million viewers

While this isn't Syfy's biggest hit, Sanctuary is very compatible with Stargate Universe, and it's also doing well when it comes to the time-shift audience. That isn't bad for a series that once only lived on the Web and is still mostly virtual.

I been loyal to Heroes since it aired and they had a couple of bad seasons. Though the current season started off slow, I have to say, I'm really enjoying the show again. They have a really interesting new villian.

Dollhouse is an interesting show but I can't get into them using the dolls as prostitutes every week. Though I have enjoyed the few episodes I've actually watched.

Stargate Universe has potential, but they are going to have to pick up the pace a little to hold on to their audience. Going on a long hiatus may not be a good thing for the show. If in the meantime something else comes on better on another network, you can say bye bye SGU

I'm not a huge Smallville fan, but I have to say that I am liking season 9. The show finally started the Clark/Lois relationship and it's moving into the right direction.

FastForward is a great show.

Sam and Dean are back on track with Supernatural.

Sanctuary is one of those shows that I wouldn't feel bad if I missed an episode or two. But it has a lot of potential. In time, I expect it will grow on me and I will follow it loyally every week.

I haven't seen the other shows, but I've heard mix reviews on all of them.

I know Heroes has its haters, but give the show another chance. After the firing of the two writers that took the show off track, there has been improvements.

By Slander at 11:32 AM ON 11/02/09

You misspelled "diaries." That is, unless the CW has a new show about lactating sanguinarians that I didn't know about.

Anyway, out of all the shows you've listed, the only ones I watch are the very last three. Maybe they ought to give me a Nielsen box.

By Doctroid at 11:33 AM ON 11/02/09

"And if you're worried about your favorite show, watch it live and watch the commercials. Those initial ratings are still the most important" -- this advice makes no sense at all. If you're not a Neilsen family, no one's going to know whether or not you watched it. DVR and Hulu viewership may have less impact than live, but it's the only way non Neilsen viewers can have an influence.

By avalon224 at 11:42 AM ON 11/02/09

Love Sanctuary... SGU i hate to say is boring. I love seeing Robert Carlyle and Justin Louis (he was great in Durham County) each week but the show is slow........ need more action.

Loyal to Supernatural to the death even though CSI and Fringe come on the same time I added another DVR... problem solved I can still watch all my faves. Medium rocks as always, so glad CBS picked it up.

By VichusSmith at 11:56 AM ON 11/02/09

Friday is my new 4-letter word. I don't expect seeing any more Dollhouse after this season.

By illogicaljoker at 12:21 PM ON 11/02/09

Why were the ratings you guys used for the two SyFy shows not last week's (or the most recent week's) ratings?

By Highway Man at 12:25 PM ON 11/02/09

Let’s see here…SGU is probably the best one on this list. Heroes and Dollhouse are tolerable which makes them alright I guess. The rest that are mentioned are just awful with Flashforward topping the list.

By SethSJ at 12:32 PM ON 11/02/09

BRING BACK KINGS!!

By Meezer at 12:33 PM ON 11/02/09

Fringe is the best of these. Supernatural is great as always. Smallville and Heroes have actually gotten interesting this season compared with last years efforts. Eastwick is a very fun show which means it will vanish.
Sanctuary is just plain stupid. At some point last year somebody (Amanda Tapping) decided to make the show all Amanda all the time. I guess Emilie Ullerup was getting too much fan mail.

By Deadlegs at 12:35 PM ON 11/02/09

I'm only giving SGU another couple eps. I still havent watch last weeks. The show just dosent grab me like SG1 and Atlantis did.I dont seem to care about any of the characters, as already pointed out its very boring. They could have put what we have learned so far in the series and made a 2 hour pilot.

As for the rest of the shows listed I watch all but Medium and GW. I watched the first season of Medium but I think it went up against 2 shows I liked more after that 1st season. and GW was the same. every once in a while I catch a rerun just to watch JLH bounce around which is always fun to watch. Im just tired of all the "ghost" shows. I do believe I just cant stand the fake BS "reality" shows

OH MY GOD I HEARD A SOUND!!! OH MY GOD THERE IS SOME KIND OF WETNESS COMING FROM MY PANTS!!!
LOL thank you South Park

By Tom at 12:40 PM ON 11/02/09

Stargate Voyager ... I mean Universe ... has been an awful bore from the very start. After episode 10, maybe they'll replace it with something a little more exciting: like paint drying. How the blazes does this dreck get on TV in the first place?

By ThemeAnfwl at 12:41 PM ON 11/02/09

Fringe is great, If they had not put it on Thursday it would do better. FlashForward is growing on me.
Dollhouse ! Uhh started terrible but now it is getting good but I think to late.
StarGate Universe. What can I say.. Was so looking forward to this show. But it is so BORING
I want to stick a fork in my eye. So I do not have to see it. I'm done. 1/4 of the Season is done.
All there doing is still trying to get Air and Water.

By astubbs at 12:43 PM ON 11/02/09

I noticed that Defying Gravity wasn't included in this list. It's an amazing sci-fi show that started this season. Fans are really hoping that it will get picked up for a second season, but ABC seems to have dropped it.

By Joe B. at 12:45 PM ON 11/02/09

Sci Fi needs to get over doing their shows with split seasons. You just get into the show and then it goes off TV for months...a huge momentum killer for a fan!!! This was the first I'd read that SG: Universe will disappear after 10 episodes until the Spring. Instead of splitting the season, why don't they develop more new shows (and not crap like Ghost Hunters and Scare Tactics) and run show all the way through for four or five months and then replace it with another for the same amount of time, interspaced with reruns to fill out the season. That way each show will have its own pre-defined season and not leave fans wondering what's going on or when their show is coming back.

By I<3DG at 12:47 PM ON 11/02/09

It is my hope that they finish the first season of Defying Gravity and bring it back for more. It was a great "hard science" show, they just did a horrid publicity job.

By daryl at 12:50 PM ON 11/02/09

Hey what's up with leaving out Defying Gravity???

By captin21 at 12:52 PM ON 11/02/09

SGU needs a fair shake I think everyone with negitive coments are forgeting they said this was going to be a diferent show we dont see as much technical mumbo jumbo and that is what usually grabs us I honestly think it was a huge mistake to cansel Atlantis i think it had a few good years left in it and maby some are still pissed about it , I loved some of SGU s graphics the way they draged the stars ionisphere and grabed the solar power COOL but the crew is not as great as we come to expect I dont see any Dan jacksons or Rodney Meckay forgive my spelling peeps No checker ,

By Rorist at 12:52 PM ON 11/02/09

Flashforward is very interesting IMO, it has a great potential. A serie often has a moment in the season when it's kind of boring, so you don't know where it goes, it's the case with the last couple of episodes i think.

Heroes, better than the last season.. But maybe my opinion is disturbed by the lesbian thing, who knows.

SGU was interesting at first, because different of Atlantis. But like everyone said, boring at this point. Hope it's getting elsewhere than just seeking for air and water... Characters are not consistant at all..

But, I have to say this out loud, BRING BACK DEFYING GRAVITY please ! It was my best summer show ever, a great potential, great characters, great naration.

Hi, I'm a fan of Defying Gravity and I think you should buy the show. It has a great potential and a lot of fans would be happy to watch it on your network!

By Carpe Universum at 12:57 PM ON 11/02/09

SCI FI ( I refuse to call you syfy. ) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PICK up Defying Gravity. That show was excellent, and only cursed with a horrible time slot. This can be another SciFi heroic save of a great show. Come on guys.

By mss555 at 1:00 PM ON 11/02/09

I wish that Defying Gravity had gotten proper advertisement and had been started in the fall when most shows start (not the middle of August) ABC did a terrible job putting this show out there. This show is addicting and got better and better. There has never been anything like it. It would draw all types of crowds. Women and men. PLEASE GET DEFYING GRAVITY ON THE AIR!!!!!

By Sheep Farm at 1:02 PM ON 11/02/09

Doctor Who wasn't listed. Isn't Scifi showing reruns?

By captin21 at 1:03 PM ON 11/02/09

We are forgeting one of the greats that was tragicly shut down way way befor its time here I am a Huge fan of Defying Gravity it was a show for adults the casting was great these people worked so well together I was in love with all of them by episode 8 and that is when it was canseled you can get the final 5 episodes on torrents but I think SY FY should grab what is left of it and re air season 1 from start to finish and then make a season 2 and so on I could see that show going for a good 7 seasons 6 missions 6 planets and home , i was so looking forward to years of vewing it was starting to be so big where I live we wear starting to gather to watch new episodes like we do with Eureka although season 3 of Eureka was sliping a bit I hope season 4 or 5 ? is back to great , I hope something can be salvaged from Defying Gravity

By rtr4s at 1:07 PM ON 11/02/09

I am hooked on Defying Gravity. Dont let it go away. Someone needs to pick it up. Great show...one of a kind, acting is excellent so much more needs to be told from this story. THis is the only show that my husband and I watch together, and we both love. He is always trying to get me into more syfy type shows, and this is the only one I am hooked on.

By Lisa at 1:09 PM ON 11/02/09

Defying Gravity is a great show that really should have been included here, despite its summer start. What ABC has done to drive this show into the ground is shameful, what with the lack of advertising and denying U.S. viewers the final episodes. Why would ABC buy a show just to kill it? Another network/cable station needs to pick Defying Gravity up and promote it properly. There are already plenty of fans of the show, and the fanbase will only grow if the show were to be continued. Save Defying Gravity!!!

By briant at 1:12 PM ON 11/02/09

I used to like Heroes but its lost my interest.
I was loving Defying Gravity then abc stopped airing it. This is the one and only show that my mother and i both liked and watched hahaha
This show belongs on Syfy

By scifire at 1:12 PM ON 11/02/09

I love the Vampire Diaries. It has a perfect mix of today's youth with a feel of the 60's daytime drama "Dark Shadows."

By cc379 at 1:12 PM ON 11/02/09

Huge fan of Defying Gravity - SyFy should pick it up!

By captin21 at 1:15 PM ON 11/02/09

There are rumors that ABC bought Defying Gravity because it was a threat to there line up they wear worried that some other network would snap it up and it would do harm they then failed to promote it I found it surfing on episode 3 or 4 by mistake and was drawn in to it it deserves a fair shake it will do well on Cable

By DefyingGravityFan at 1:18 PM ON 11/02/09

PLEASE PICK UP DEFYING GRAVITY!!! I absolutely love that show and I can't believe ABC dropped it. They did very little advertising...they didn't even give next episode previews at the end (instead airing Gray's Anatomy Premier Promos). ABC messed up, it's a GREAT show with a lot of potential. I have watched all 13 episodes and I want to view a new season!!!

By rosiewook at 1:23 PM ON 11/02/09

Are you guys trying to kill SGU? Because splitting the season has worked so well for other shows. (Not.)

I think SGU has huge potential, but it will take a lot for it to survive with a split. I would much rather have it all in one block. Please reconsider!

By s4mur41 at 1:27 PM ON 11/02/09

DEFYING GRAVITY, abc's killed you and now your not even on this list

By tati at 1:37 PM ON 11/02/09

I watch a lot of those shows but none of them in their original airings--only online. I'd rather watch when I feel like it rather than have to free up a particular timeslot in my evening.

I am sooo happy that Leno is sucking wind. NBC should have never made that deal. All it did was piss a lot of viewers off because of the schedule changes/deletions they were forced to make, in order to accomodate. Talk shows don't belong in primetime--even Oprah knows that, and--if anyone could draw a crowd in primetime, it's probably her.

By Spinster at 1:38 PM ON 11/02/09

This list depresses me. I don't enjoy a single show from this "every" fall sci-fi show list.

Make an "on hiatus" or "did not survive" list for fall. I imagine it would have a number of more popular shows. Shame.

By Nikst at 1:47 PM ON 11/02/09

SyFy pleeeaaase pick up Defying Gravity! The only reason it didn’t have good ratings was because ABC didn’t do ANY advertising for it. Their marketing for it was really bad, actually it was like they didn’t have people promoting it all. With the right promotion you can get the ratings to go up, easy. Just don’t compare it to Greys Anatomy and other shows. Its its own show

By rockadidas at 1:47 PM ON 11/02/09

Defying Gravity is the best new scifi show this season. Sad that ABC let it go... I definitely encourage SyFy to pick it up and run with it!

By Kitty at 1:51 PM ON 11/02/09

It's sad to see Defying Gravity not on this list. It is a wonderful show and I can't understand how the network execs can cancel all of the good shows! I was bummed to hear they canned Kings and now another great show seems to be dying off. How about less boring reality shows and lets keep some of the good shows like Defying Gravity or Kings!

By ravirae at 1:52 PM ON 11/02/09

you seem to have forgotten defying gravity. it is an amazing show that suffered from poor promoting, like most scifi shows do. it would be incredibly disappointing to lose the show!

By Lydia at 1:52 PM ON 11/02/09

DEFYING GRAVITY MISSING FROM THE LIST!

Defying Gravity is the only show that I would go out of my to watch. It is an amazing original show resulting from the mix of suspense, science-fiction and a good story line about the human struggle to overcome our deepest fears of the unknown powers beyond us and how our destiny is shaped by it.

This show has huge potential and it belongs to SyFy. Please pick it up!

Ummm...both SG-1 and SGA had a 3 month hiatus a few times. Heck, during season 10 of SG-1/3 of SGA, they had a 6 month hiatus. Sure, ratings dropped a bit then, but overall, they were fairly consistent. Besides, SyFy decides renewal/cancellation based on the first 5-6 episodes. SGU is more than safe for a second season. In fact, I actually think MGM had a 2-year minimum deal from the get-go, since it's more expensive than SGA was in season 1, so I doubt they'd have gone with the investment had they not been given at least 2 seasons.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that SGU has AT LEAST 3 seasons guaranteed. With such a large cast, there's always room to kill off half of them, including Carlyle, reducing costs and coasting on so-so ratings for that third season.

Heroes should be done by the end of this season- last season's vomit trail lost many viewers.
FlashForward has a chance, but what the heck are they going to do after 4/24/2010? Another flash?
Leno every night, just earlier. How original.
Love Fringe, but I am hearing it is "on the bubble."
SGU has promise as part of the Stargate franchise, but better get the character chemistry fixed ASAP.
I was totally hooked into Defying Gravity, and now I have to see season one on DVD. I would love to see this one picked up by a savy cable network. Again, the alphabet proves they know more than their viewers... not.

By njdss4 at 2:01 PM ON 11/02/09

Shallow shows like Eastwick and Vampire Diaries get to stay, while an amazing show like Defying Gravity gets canned? Come on, Syfy, Defying Gravity is a show you could be PROUD of. BRING IT BACK TO LIFE!

By KK at 2:07 PM ON 11/02/09

What about Defying Gravity?
There are so few really interesting well written and well acted series on TV, it's criminal that this one didn't get more promotion. I would watch it over Flash Forward any day. This great show that deserves a new home on SyFy where it could really be appreciated.

By Iso at 2:09 PM ON 11/02/09

The ratings for each show seem to have been cherry-picked in SyFy's favor.

Quelle surprise.

By DaveBierwirth at 2:11 PM ON 11/02/09

I think SyFy should drop Ghost Hunters (what a lame show!) and pick up Defying Gravity. It should have never been on ABC in the first place. Who wants to watch some plumbers out of Rhode Island bump into things in the dark when they could be watching a great show like DG which actualy has a plot.

By richerichnc at 2:23 PM ON 11/02/09

DEFYING GRAVITY!
Pick it up now, and start over from the begining if you want people to really get into it.

Flash Forward is pretty good, Eastwick didn't do it for me. Fringe is one of my faves!
I haven't given up on Stargate Universe (major LOL on the "Stargate Voyager" comment though...) yet.
Looking forward to V and Caprica.

By aglaia at 2:25 PM ON 11/02/09

Fringe should have been paired with Dollhouse on Tuesdays. Would have been wide open for them both to shine. Stupid Fox programmers. Flash Forward has moments; I will keep watching and hoping for more. SGU is driving me nuts with the Vital Necessity In Old Rust-Bucket Spaceship of the Week scenarios - but with Dollhouse pulled for November I'll watch SGU in that timeslot instead. I had high hopes for Sanctuary; they're still there, just not quite as high. But it still has some great potential if they develop the mythos of The Five some more.

I don't watch the others mentioned on a regular basis; there must be time for other things besides television. I missed this Defying Gravity completely; it sounds like something worth exploring, though.

By zoedonner at 2:32 PM ON 11/02/09

Defying Gravity should be on your list! ABC did a great job of distroying a fantastic show on purpose . Lack of promoting it, bad time slot after the horrible show shark tank, and just gave up. If anyone can't see ABC botched this great show and killed it themselves is an idiot. Please breathe life back into the show syfy! You can do it! They stole that show from you in the first place. Give Defying Gravity a new home! It belongs on syfy! This was the best show that has been on tv in years, just don't let it die! Give it a chance! You won't be sorry you did!

By klb at 2:42 PM ON 11/02/09

I agree that Defying Gravity is sadly missing from the list. The general feeling is that ABC picked it up only to kill it, I mean, what other reason could there be to handle a show of this caliber the way they did? Perhaps they just wanted to keep it out of competitors hands? Hard telling, but hopefully someone will see the light and give it a chance!

By Ldad at 2:43 PM ON 11/02/09

I dont like flash forward , It just doesnt keep my attention. Heroes has gone down hill, stopped watching last season.

I loved Defying Gravity. I heard ABC dropped it. It belongs on SyFy. My teenage daughter who usually watches only reality crap actually likes this show too. Get Defying Gravity on your line up and we will watch.

By dianne at 2:45 PM ON 11/02/09

I LOVE Heroes...BUT, it's on at 8, and my kids are too young to watch it. So, it doesn't get watched. I tried watching it online, but even with a modem, it was taking FOREVER to download. So, I've seen about two of this seasons eps. It was better at 9 - I am beginning to hate Jay.....

LOVE LOVE LOVE Sanctuary! It's my Friday night show! LOVE IT! love IT! Love the changes they've made, love the storylines, love the casting and writing! Can't say anything bad about it! LOVE IT!

By mmm09 at 2:47 PM ON 11/02/09

I started watching Sanctuary but never got into it.
I did really enjoy Defying Gravity, but they didnt play the whole season. I wish it would get picked up, so the story can play out. I loved how part was set in space, part in past and part from command control. I really got into this one.

Glad to see so many Defying Gravity fans. I also discovered the show when channel surfing and was so sorry that it ended. I wasn't sure if it was cancelled or if ABC split the season.

And I love Heroes. The articles that are posted about Heroes on this site are usually tepid at best. The comments - insulting. I think this season is really coming together. I hope NBC gives it another full season.

Friday night line up: Sanctuary, Defying Gravity, SG U..... I'd stay and watch ALL of the commercials!!!

By A at 2:56 PM ON 11/02/09

What about Defying Gravity?? I miss it!!! I'm stuck watching reruns online until they put the rest of the season back on the schedule. :(

By divephotog at 3:03 PM ON 11/02/09

Firstoff, it is an insult to even class Ghost Whisperer, Medium, and Eastwick into the realm of ScienceFiction. Of course, SyFy had to because they air repeats of the one (as does WE).

Nice to see SGU and Sanctuary doing as well as they are, even in comparison to FF. - kh

By ZyFi2009 at 3:09 PM ON 11/02/09

I'm glad so many people have been mentioning Defying Gravity. This was one of my favorite shows this fall and I can't believe that ABC stopped airing it.

I like the idea some of you have for SyFy to pick up the show.

So SyFy Executives, if you're reading this... give us what the people want.... more Defying Gravity.

By burakao at 3:26 PM ON 11/02/09

I watched the 1st season of DG, and I have to admit I want to see more...

So SyFy, please step up up and let us continue watching this thriller.

By TamiHC at 3:26 PM ON 11/02/09

PLEASE PLEASE PICK UP DEFYING GRAVITY!!! It is the best sci fi show after Firefly and it really deserves a second season (at the very least)!!!!! LOVE THAT SHOW.

By ShibaInuPup at 3:29 PM ON 11/02/09

SGU isn't Star Trek Anything, nor is it Battlestar Galactica. I will however continue watching it. On the other hand, I absolutely LOVED DEFYING GRAVITY!!! Darn ABC for near-canceling it! Heroes, hmm... I'm torn. It sucks but I watch it in a "I know all of the characters so I continue to tune in" kind of way. Eastwick I enjoy. It's light and airy and a little dark but in a cutsie Hansle and Gretel way.

By FilSalustri at 3:32 PM ON 11/02/09

I'd also vote for picking up Defying Gravity. It has all kinds of potential, and it's treatment by the networks and by other critics has been unfair. See my writeup at http://filsalustri.wordpress.com/2009/10/04/defying-gravity/ for more, esp. viz critics.

Save Defying Gravity, please!

"On this episode of SGU, the crew struggles to determine why the ancient ships' bathrooms don't work and whether a nearby planet has enough porcelain to fix the problem - and they only have hours before they jump to their next crisis!"

Can this show get anymore predictable or boring? Very disappointed so far.

By midastouch at 3:34 PM ON 11/02/09

I am begging you to do the right thing and to take on DEFYING GRAVITY. The episodes that I was lucky enough to see were phenomenal. I am a huge fan of Sci Fi and I watch it all - out of everything available right now, this show really had it all. Suspense, Drama and it had you on the edge of your seat wanting more. We are drowning in reality garbage on regular TV and need something a lot more stimulating for our minds - this show really hit the mark.

By JynJre at 3:45 PM ON 11/02/09

Please somebody, anybody, bring back Defying Gravity. It was/is my favorite show of the season in any genre. It seems that ABC wanted to kill it from the start. So sad to see it die so young.

By midastouch at 3:49 PM ON 11/02/09

I absolutely love SG and SGA, but SGU is faintly boring and a big letdown for me. I was so hoping that it would be another smash hit in the franchise. I know they wanted to move away from what they were doing into an entirely different direction, but why mess with success? It makes no sense. I will still carry on watching though in the hope that it improves. I really enjoy Medium and Fringe - they never let you down.

By Morg at 3:50 PM ON 11/02/09

Pick up DEFYING GRAVITY! Best show of the season that ABC killed!

Defying Gravity is finished and the actors have moved on. I loved this show but it's been reported that all the sets have been destroyed. It's started its short run now in England. Maybe they will appreciate it there. ABC killed it here with their botched promotions and programming.

By finnaryn at 3:59 PM ON 11/02/09

Please pick up Defying Gravity!

Do networks watch their online video hits? I am not able to watch “live” shows but do watch several shows off of the networks’ websites. I would even be happy if they had to include more commercials, just to keep the episodes online.

By TT at 4:05 PM ON 11/02/09

save Defying Gravity!

By Kingcruiser at 4:11 PM ON 11/02/09

Sanctuary died with Ashley (yeah, yeah, she might return in Season 3, but I won't be there). I think the comments that it has become The Amanda Tapping Show has a ring of truth. I adore Amanda, but the show suffers if everything is about Helen.
Fringe is good, but advancing the characters is a bit slow.
Star Gate Universe suffers from three fatal flaws: I don't care if ANY of the crew survives, the jittery camera work is way to artsy (ie: it doesn't advance the story, it's DISTRACTING), there is NO humor which marked the original Star Gate series. IF you were going to make Battlestar Galactica 2, why not call it that? This is NOT Star Gate material. Voyager perhaps, but not Star Gate.
Flash Forward Flashed. Interesting pilot, but then it just dragged... and dragged... and dragged... And only ONE person didn't black out? They hinted at others, but then dropped ALL the other leads to chase the ONE. Surprised they didn't pick up his fingerprints with their super duper camera. I've worked with military space cameras and yes, you can read license plates from space, but you cannot see a face from across the stadium with a low res security camera! Geez, nearly all of these shows dropped any pretense of "science" in their fiction. Then again, I doubt if ANY of the writers had ANY science classes in school.
Dollhouse is so uneven. Great episodes follow poor ones, only to have another great one. Josh usually does far better, unlike his other shows, this one doesn't seem to have a PLAN on where its going.
Sorry to be so negative, but ALL of these shows need HELP. Some are beyond it, but...

By matin at 4:19 PM ON 11/02/09

Yes, really, somebody please hear us: we want Defying Gravity back!!! It's a cry from people to respect our brains, and give it more good stories, like DG !!!!

By HogZed at 4:21 PM ON 11/02/09

Defying Gravity. There, I said it too. Endless potential there. SYFY pick this one up. Dollhouse? For a second season? Pass. Bring Back Firefly? Now you're talking!! Fringe hasn't completely degenerated into absurdity & I like it most of the time. SGU is a pleasant surprise-Here's hoping it stays that way. There isn't much out there more compelling than ghost/derelict/abandoned/deserted - Marie Celeste type spaceships. they are w/o a doubt boss-a-matic. Flash Forward is sucking me in w/ decent characters-Did not see that coming. Heroes-may it die a proud death but not this year. Most looking forward to? Warehouse 13 -oh yeah.

By Lostlove fan at 4:42 PM ON 11/02/09

Flash Forward + SGU + Supernatural = HOT GUYS! Medium + Fringe = awesome watching. Besides True Blood these are all I need :)

Agree with the above poster, defying gravity was easily my favorite for this season. A real shame about ABC mismarketing it.

By Wholesome at 5:29 PM ON 11/02/09

DEFYING GRAVITY should be picked back up. Its was such a great show, and i will always be a fan!

By Deadlegs at 5:32 PM ON 11/02/09

OK to everyone who wondering why DG isnt on this list why dont you look at the list again. ALL of the shows in this list are AIRING NOW! DG is not. As for DG I thought it was ok not great It too was also a little boring. I do applaud the 2 fans of the show to spend the whole day commenting on here using different names begging it to be picked up though.

By Trixie at 5:39 PM ON 11/02/09

I've seen a lot of comments here about Defying Gravity. Wow what a big miss. If you're hung up on the stupid advertising that this is Grey's Anatomy in space don't be. It was a dumb advertising idea and it's completely wrong.

Defying Gravity is a terrific show and it would be a shame if all of the scifi geeks out there (I include myself as a geek) ignored it because it was advertised in a stupid way.

By CB at 6:05 PM ON 11/02/09

Defying Gravity is a wonderful show that should be shown on SyFy. It totally amazed me with the writing and the great acting and special effects.. It was exciting to watch and had me on the edge wondering where it all would end. Please pick up this great series because its Emmy worthy. Its that good.

By pete at 6:12 PM ON 11/02/09

All I care is that Fringe keeps churning out quality episodes. It's been the most engaging series I've seen in years and I'm loving every minute!

By Madigan at 6:21 PM ON 11/02/09

My guess is that there are probably only two fans of Defying Gravity on this message thread....both of which have a lot of time on their hands since they have taken to posting the same message using different aliases.

By Starlionblue at 6:31 PM ON 11/02/09

The last 5 eps of seasons 1 of Defying Gravity, which were not aired on ABC, are just as good as the first 8. They were aired in Canada by Space and can be found by, ahem, alternative means.

I'll chime in and say that I also hope this show gets a second change. And while we are at it check out the documentary it was partially based on:: "Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets". Great stuff from the BBC.

By OldManInOhio at 6:32 PM ON 11/02/09

I can think of THREE reasons not to take SyFy seriously:

1.DEFYING GRAVITY!

2. DOCTOR WHO!

3. TORCHWOOD!

By Starlionblue at 6:35 PM ON 11/02/09

"My guess is that there are probably only two fans of Defying Gravity on this message thread....both of which have a lot of time on their hands since they have taken to posting the same message using different aliases."

Make that three with me then. ;) I really enjoyed that show. Lots of scifi purists have said they don't like the "paranormal" stuff with the artifacts, but I don't mind that at all. It works for the show and besides the story is more about interpersonal relationships. Seeing how much many fans tend to complain about technobabble being used as an excuse for a plot...

By chuy at 7:09 PM ON 11/02/09

wow... crap. I guess I was not the only one who was confused my the omission of DG. Loved that show. Yet another show that was killed by not knowing how to market the thing.

By 1ofmanydgfans at 7:13 PM ON 11/02/09

I think are a lot of Defying Gravity fans, one of the facebook sites quickly climbed to over 5,000 before it was cancelled. I'm seeing other fans all over. I am totally hooked on Defying Gravity, (this is my only post here). I love how they developed the characters and how well the cast works together. Some were on facebook and you could see the camraderie. I also think the show is well written and a creative new idea. I'm not even a sci-fi fan but if the Sy-Fy network picks this up and produces more seasons I will definitely watch!! This show could be a major hit if given a chance.

By Iamtheeagle at 7:45 PM ON 11/02/09

Sy-Fy please pick up Defying Gravity, don't let this poorly scheduled and promoted gem go to waste. The series has serious legs in it, with an excellently built up story arc already in place, a brilliant cast and a seemingly loyal fanbase it would be a real shame to see this all go to waste.

By Sepherim at 7:56 PM ON 11/02/09

Smallville is a horrible show, I don't know how come it is still on air.

Dollhouse is nice, not great, but entertaining.

After the last seasons of Heroes, I will probably not see this season, nor the next ones unless my friends say it is really incredible.

Ghost Whisperer is boring, saw some chapters and won't be seeing any more.

I'll keep on watching True Blood, as it is entertaining but not much more.

Only show I'll be missing is Defying Gravity, which was a small gem that doesn't look like it will be continued. And it is a pity, you don't get to see decent science-fiction much lately, seems like everything has to be space opera to succeed (such as Battlestar Gallactica, which was rather horrible). I wish you guys would pick up DG, it would really be a good adittion to your shows, something serious with a solid background, characters and plot development.

By lynnnie5 at 8:18 PM ON 11/02/09

I love Fringe and i enjoyed Defying Gravity. Initially Ron Livingston is what made me want to watch the show....but then I fell in love with it. I wish both of these shows were on Syfy

By kimmyL at 8:22 PM ON 11/02/09

I hate Heroes....I'm so over it. I enjoy Eastwick and Sanctuary. I did enjoy Defying Gravity too, but had to watch a bunch of episodes online , which was annoying. It does seem like a lot of people are upset about it being canceled.

By Slyman at 8:41 PM ON 11/02/09

There are only 2 shows that I could get my teenagers to watch with me. Smallville, and Defying Gravity. I really enjoy Smallville. I didnt see DG on the list. I'm assuming its canceled since the final episodes weren't shown. Its too bad, cause it had a lot of potential. (I always loved Office Space too)

By deanna09 at 8:44 PM ON 11/02/09

By bobarian at 8:47 PM ON 11/02/09

Flashforward is a pretty great show although two weeks ago's episode was pretty horrible.
One question though...how did DG not make this list?
Has it been cancelled or something? Such a fantastic show!

By LilDustSpeck at 8:48 PM ON 11/02/09

We were really getting into the show Defying Gravity. I heard that there was a chance SyFy was going to pick it up and air the remaining episodes? That would be lovely! I thought the writing was interesting and liked how they were interweaving past/present. Please bring it back!

By Janicet at 8:49 PM ON 11/02/09

I am not really into FlashForward, I tried, but just couldnt get into it. I'm not excited for V, they are advertising sooo much for it. (I loved the old series, and dont want to see a remake, it wont be the same without the old characters) I wish ABC had advertised that much for Defying Gravity. I enjoyed it a lot. I love the outer space shows.

By RA at 10:07 PM ON 11/02/09

I too loved Defying Gravity...refused to watch Flash forward after what AB_ did to it. They dropped this creative wonder and are now promoting a remake from the 80's...V. How unoriginal can they be? Sci Fi please pick up Defying gravity...look what happened to Star Trek all those years later.......Its never too late.

Fringe is so good. Hubby and I look forward to that every week . I love the characters. Every episode is exciting.

Defying gravitys a great show you Sci fi shold pick it up.

PS: your name change is lame. Sci Fi stood for science fiction. SyFy are just letters. you should change it back

By TimothyArcher at 11:07 PM ON 11/02/09

SyFy should pick up Defying Gravity. I have seen all 13 episodes and I love this show. I'm dying to see more. They haven't even made it to Mars yet! It's ratings have suffered because its time slots have been shifted around so much, but other channels like the BBC and SPACE in Canada have already picked it up. I would hate to lose such a great show as Defying Gravity as we did Firefly.

By Rab at 11:30 PM ON 11/02/09

Heroes had a great season 1 and then it went downhill from there. At least this season isn't so bad and it gives me hope that the writers might finally wake up.

FlashForward doesn't really do it for me. The only scifi part of that show was the big event in the first episode. Now, all you have is some investigation and people with visions. If I want to see a show about people who have visions, I'll just watch reruns of Deadzone...

How can Defying Gravity not be on this list ? I love the show and can't understand the marketing geniuses at ABC that decided to barely promote the show and then decide to pull it because of low ratings. How hard is it to understand that the ratings were low because they didn't promote the show ?

I used to love smallville but it seems like they're watering down the soup. Hasn't Clark and Lois been flirting like forever already ? It's like Clark and Lana that were on/off for years. Just get to the point. So many characters in the DC universe and so many good stories to tell.

Haven't watched Stargate Universe yet, I'm still catching up on the previous seasons of SG1 and Atlantis.

By Scott Unser at 11:33 PM ON 11/02/09

FlashForward : Great premise like so many shows, hope they don't paint themselves in a corner. SGU: Great premise , GET OUT OF THE PAINTED CORNER ALREADY! Picking up where last episode ended is good, continuity is great, but need to move just a tad faster, we need to get invested in some characters quickly. Defying Gravity (thanks all for mentioning it). OUTSTANDING show. Didn't have time to paint itself in a corner or get out of it for that matter. ABC, why spend all that money on a show (film entire 1st season) then not show it? Put it after or before a good show, or hey, here's an idea, replace a bad show with Defying Gravity, which has, well plot, and acting, and doesn't play down to its audience.

By belindak at 11:36 PM ON 11/02/09

There is nothing good on tv. I was excited for Eastwick.....no good.
Flashforward has not impressed me. i wish Defying Gravity would have a chance.

By annditts at 12:22 AM ON 11/03/09

Not too crazy about Heroes for the last 2 seasons. I bet its on its way out. It was so exciting in the early seasons. Too bad it went down hill.
Fringe has been consistently good. I really feel the actors are superb in this. They make the show.
FlashForward was good the first couple of episodes, but now it lost my attention. Its not moving along like I hoped. seems slow.
Defying Gravity got good a few episodes in. The actors were great in this too. I hope it gets another look for more episodes.
Syfy needs to get rid of ghost hunters.
I"m not gonna tune into V. Saw it in the 80's.

By Apollo976 at 12:40 AM ON 11/03/09

How can Defying Gravity not be on this list? It is by far one of the best sci-fi tv-shows to come out in recent history, the story is good, acting is good, sets are great it deserves a real chance. Don't get me wrong theres some other good sci-fi out there too flash forward is pretty good and I'm liking SGU so far but Defying Gravity has so much talent and potential and it shouldn't be wasted.

By captin21 at 12:46 AM ON 11/03/09

This is my third coment. I love all the Defying gravity fans Great going guys I know that Most if not all the cast would be willing to give it a go if it happened fast and sets can be salvaged and remade. Ill bet half the sets are still there Season 1 is done re air it next year on SYFY as you are going at season 2 James Parriott, the creator of DG has got 3 seasons all worked out he is a briliant man and would give this away almost just to see it survive a few more seasons There has never been a show that I am so emotionaly attached to. The Cast are fantastic they have such chemistry and , say we have to replace a few people we all know the story with ABC the but holes who wouldent be happy just to see it come back even if we had to change a character or have someone Die in episode 14 ? I think it could work this show is so good I can see it haveing a following like the original Trek did , and if it Is killed it will be as huge a loss as the original trek was when it was canseled by short sighted burocrats , Long live DG

By steve at 12:59 AM ON 11/03/09

I hope NBC keeps Heroes. But if they cancel it, they better give it a proper ending after 4 seasons. I'll be pissed if they just cancel it on a cliffhanger.

By Beta at 1:10 AM ON 11/03/09

Hmm... Defying Gravity not on the list? Well, I think I'll check "other" because I'm a hardcore DG fan. So much, I even put up my own forum and it's completely ad-free (because I'm not in for the money)... if that's not commitment then maybe I should make the book... and publish it free.

Hey! where's Defying Gravity? that's not fair : such a brilliant show :(

By dreamer at 1:44 AM ON 11/03/09

I am hooked on Defying Gravity. I need more. I need to know what happens, and not because it's toying with my mind and hooking me with cliffhangers and gimmicks created to torture viewers into coming back for more. I love the story, love the characters, love beta, love where it's going. This is a show I trust with my imagination. I want to see more.

By Trish at 2:08 AM ON 11/03/09

Hey, what about Defying Gravity!?!?!! I really love the show, and am dismayed that ABC did such an awful publicity job on it :( I want to see more! Syfy, pick it up!!!

By Alex at 3:22 AM ON 11/03/09

Sanctuary's a decent show, where as Stargate Universe is just...Well, it really seems like the producers and studio are trying to hop onto the bandwagon with Battlestar and Star Trek Voyager. The only thing that's 'Stargate' about the show is that there's one on the ship. My first impressions were of disappointment; on that note though, I'll probably give it another season to improve before making a final call.

I also have to agree with alot of the comments made; Defying Gravity was a great show with alot of potential. While some of the episodes in the middle were...well, getting boring, the pace really picked up on the last few episodes (that were broadcast on SPACE in Canada) and the season finale "Kiss" was simply breathtaking. ABC fumbled on this show, and I hope SyFy will pick up the ball for a second season.

By Ca_Girl at 3:28 AM ON 11/03/09

FLASHFORWARD is actually a decent show. I'm hooked and have tuned in every week (VIA Online b/c I don't have cable).

HEROES still watch but I'm behind and it is seriously going down on my preferred list. I used to watch it all the time.

SMALLVILLE has to live on! I lost the connection in the middle seasons but I got caught up through DVD's and am once again in love with this series. Keep up the good job.

DEFYING GRAVITY was such a great show. I got started watching it late via online and therefore couldn't do my bit with the ratings. But I was able to watch all 13 episodes and am absolutely hooked. I watch them all in 2 maybe 3 days. NO JOKE. I just couldn't stop watching. I love ABC but I am completely at a loss why they killed the show before it's time. As with others on here I suggest for SyFy to pick up this series. Give it the justice it deserves. (For those on here that have said it's only two people writing over and over; TRUST ME, it's not b/c there are plenty of people like me fighting to keep this show alive.)

SAVE DEFYING GRAVITY!!

By lq at 6:00 AM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity has just started here in Britain and we'd love to see more than just 13 episodes. It's a terrific show that deserves to be included in your ratings lists - perhaps look at the ratings outside the US to get a better picture of its success?

By Jim at 6:51 AM ON 11/03/09

To be fair, the reason Defying Gravity is not on this list is the shows mentioned are still on the air. By the postings, it appears that there is a fan base that would like to see it picked up by SyFy. Works for me.

Flash Forward works until the date in the flash forward. After that I don't see a future there.
I like Sanctuary. It started as an internet show and has kept its business model with low operating costs. This is critical for shows to survive on cable networks like SyFy.
SGU needs a fix soon or it will lose itself, I don't think the split season will help either. SG1 and SGA had split seasons after they had built their fan base, not before.
Putting Fringe on Thursdays against the CSI franchise (which I despise) may not be the smartest thing that Fox has done, but it's Fox and I have grown accustomed to their idiocy when it comes to schedules.
Heroes is losing itself. I remember the first season when EVERYONE was saying, "Save the Cheerleader, save the world." Now I am wondering if that was a mistake.
Dollhouse? Sorry Joss Whedon, clear your desk out at Warner again. This show is a struggle to watch.

My favorite lineup for a night would be...

Stargate SG1 (hell yes reruns are still better than most new shows)
Eureka (funny show)
Defying Gravity
Sanctuary
SGU (when it gets fixed)

For the record, I can not tolerate the Ghost Hunter franchise and I scratch my thinning hairline wondering how this can be SyFy's number one show.

By scifire at 8:14 AM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity was very good. I quit even mentioning it because ABC has apparently decided to leave it in the "never aired complete first season" graveyard. BRING IT BACK ABC!

By XCalPro at 8:28 AM ON 11/03/09

And yet not one mention of Warehouse 13... SyFy's other original show?!?

I agree with other posts. I hate the Ghosthunters. It drives me crazy that people like that crap. I think its all little teenagers that like those shoes.
I watch Flash Forward , Fringe and did watch Defying Gravity. I hope that ABC or SYFY put it back on for more seasons. It was a great 1st season. the final episode was some of the best tv i have ever seen.

By Manuel at 9:46 AM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity was the best SF this year and nothing reminds me on Grey's Anatomie. I'm sad :(

The Final Episode was so amazing. Put it back on!

By SusanTanya at 9:49 AM ON 11/03/09

I like Eastwick, Supernatural and Dollhouse. Eureka & Warehouse 13 are superb too.

Never could get into Ghost Whisperer or Flashforward.
I watch Vampire Diairies, Sanctuary & SGU - but agree that they need to work on the characters on SGU- especially the young ones. I would have no trouble at all if they killed off the yound lieutenant and the politician's daughter. They are really irritating. And the young everyman/genius is REALLY pressing the everyman too much. Caryle will make this show if it continues on. His lack of sleep fit was a hoot.

Heroes has a superb new villian and a fun new deaf heroine that keep me watching.

By Nick at 9:51 AM ON 11/03/09

One of the best sci fi series that have premiered this year is Defying gravity. It would have been great if would have been picked up by Syfy as ABC axed a great series with great potential.

By JenDaniels at 10:09 AM ON 11/03/09

I love FRINGE!!!!! best show on tv. After seeing all these Defying Gravity posts, I want to watch that now too. It sounds great, but will be upsetting if I get into that show and then its not renewed.

By ETo at 10:49 AM ON 11/03/09

Wow! Congratulations, you lost to the CW and your "Hit" shows don't score nearly as well as The Dresden Files when you canceled it.

By sara.d at 11:31 AM ON 11/03/09

Eureka and Defying Gravity were my 2 favorite shows this fall. They were the ones that I can't get enough of. I wish a station would pick up DG. There are a lot of fan sites for DG. I say we mail fractal tomatoes to all the networks. haha

By SciFiLover at 12:12 PM ON 11/03/09

Flashforward is great! SGU: only thing good on the show is the black officer because he is a badazz!! It does need to step up though!!!

By Danhra at 12:22 PM ON 11/03/09

Hi, I just wanted to agree with a large number of comments here that I think Defying Gravity is probably the best show to have been put on television for many years... PLEASE pick it up!! It would do amazing here. It is FAR better than any shows on the list here!!!

By Cbstha at 12:26 PM ON 11/03/09

Where is Defying Gravity?!?!?!
I am a sci-fi show and DG topped my list by far!!! Please pick the show up!!!!!!!!

By funnypie at 12:27 PM ON 11/03/09

Please please please please please pick up Defying Gravity! I am daydreaming that you will not only show the remaining episodes, but continue the series!!! Please save this excellent sci-fi show, Defying Gravity!!

By Deadlegs at 12:28 PM ON 11/03/09

OK I WILL SAY IT AGAIN. MAYBE THE MORONS ON HERE WILL READ BEFORE TYPING

DG ISN'T ON THE LIST CAUSE ITS NOT AIRING NOW!!!!! AND IN THE TITLE IT SAYS FALL SHOWS!!!!

DG IS NOT A FALL SHOW!!!

By rosebud44 at 12:34 PM ON 11/03/09

Syfy please save DEFYING GRAVITY! An incredible show that wasn't given a fair chance...

By CryCrazy at 1:53 PM ON 11/03/09

Well DEFYING GRAVITY was much better than oall of these.

By CindyJackson at 2:02 PM ON 11/03/09

I want to see more DEFYING GRAVITY!! I finally found a sci-fi show that I liked, and ABC had to go and can it! Whats up with that?

By LaurenR at 2:26 PM ON 11/03/09

My perfect show night would be - Fringe, Smallville and Defying Gravity.

By Mikey6 at 2:34 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity is the only show I watch with my Daughter and Grand-daughter. We all loved the show and were so upset when it got cancelled. Its unfair that you find a show you love, and it doesnt continue on. I always said from the beginning, this show belongs on syfy. abc tends to screw things up. I'm not tuning into Flashforward or V, because its only a matter of time and those two shows will be off the air.
I hope it gets put into your line up. My grand-daughter is not into any of my other shows, and I enjoyed being able to talk to her about this one. I hope someone airs the WHOLE season 1.( and keeps it going)

By billmfa at 2:41 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity? Is there any way to defy network nonsense? How can one tape a show and then not show the whole first season? Madness

By funnypie at 2:48 PM ON 11/03/09

I really like the new Stargate Universe....I think it has a lot of potential! But the best sci-fi show I've seen in recent years would have to be DEFYING GRAVITY. I love that story and I want to see more of it! :)

By v112o at 2:56 PM ON 11/03/09

Where is defying gravity?

By Deesla at 3:00 PM ON 11/03/09

I tuned in for the first few episode of Flash Forward... the promos seemed interesting enough.... turns out the actual show it pretty lame in my opinion. I no longer watch it (to be honest, I have blocked ABC from my televisions after they dropped Defying Gravity).
Smallville is the only other show I watch on the list, and I mostly watch it bc I was hooked in the beginning and would love to see it continue. This season has been pretty good.

I am not a huge TV fan, but I was blown away by Defying Gravity. It is a shame that it did not make it to the fall schedule. For the couple people who tried to claim that it has been only the same two people showing their support over and over, you are wrong... Defying Gravity REALLY captured the its audience... and while it was slow starting (due to the terrible promotion on ABCs part), it simply got better and better. The 13th episode was probably the best hour of television I have watched in a very long time.
Defying Gravity has a very passionate following.... so my advice to Sci-Fi is pick it up, or revive it, do whatever needs to be done because this show is golden.

By mgb at 3:13 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity really needs to be on here. It's mature near-future, reasonably "hard" science fiction, which is practically unheard of on television in general. It makes me crazy that a show that well-made can crash so quietly.

By Estelle at 3:31 PM ON 11/03/09

I, too, am a Huge Defying Gravity fan! REALLY wish SyFy would pick it up. It definitely did not get enough attention and deserves a second chance. I never even heard of it until I saw it on ABC.com and I then watched every episode in one day!
The cast is Amazing!! I'm so disappointed!

By Jim at 3:45 PM ON 11/03/09

Deadlegs- no one cares that we aren't supposed to post here because Defying Gravity isn't on the air anymore. the message is that people would like it to be on the air more than the shows that are on still. I got that, you didn't. Us morons will post here to our heart's content. Go back to posting on "Dancing with the Stars".

I have been trying to get through the showing of "V" the series on SyFy. My stomach can not take it anymore. I could easily handle 13 hours of DG.

By strick09 at 3:51 PM ON 11/03/09

I still watch Heroes, but have not been impressed with it this season. I will still tune in, hoping they straighten it out.
Fringe is very popular in my house.
I too like Defying Gravity. I found this show online. There is never been a show like this. I love how the past stories fill you in on the characters and the mission they are on. The last episode had me emotional and dying for more. The writers of this show know how to reel you in emotionally. I hope it gets back on air for more.

By wally at 4:00 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity was a great addition to the lineup on ABC I really think it was a victim of poor marketing rather than poor writing/acting/etc. I just happened upon it when clicking through channels and was hooked.

I hope SyFy picks it up. There are a lot of fans for a show that aired such a short time!

By only_tonya at 4:30 PM ON 11/03/09

What about Defying Gravity?? This was a great show. It started out great, didn't need 1 or 2 seasons to grow into it's greatness like other shows. I personally am heartbroken that it was canceled, the last show left me wanting more! I was lucky enough to find the rest of the season online, and the season finale was amazing! I was on the edge of my seat! Please pick up Defying Gravity SyFy!!!

By DF for at least 2! at 4:41 PM ON 11/03/09

WHY is Defying Gravity not included in the list? it is a great show. I only hope that we get at least one more season.

By Brad at 4:59 PM ON 11/03/09

DEFYING GRAVITY IS THE BEST SHOW EVER!!!!

By pitrulz at 5:04 PM ON 11/03/09

By Mike at 5:11 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity was one of the best shows I have see in a long time, PLEASE put it back on the air. Also seriously ghost whisper is on the list I mean really. They have garbage like that on the air but lets get rid of a show that actually makes people think. Is that the reason you took it off, people are to stupid to understand it. Anyways great job...

By Ian at 5:33 PM ON 11/03/09

I've just seen the first 3 episodes of Defying Gravity here in UK. i can't believe that it has been cancelled. Please keep it going. It really looks like it has a great story to tell. It is showing on national TV (BBC2) here and us Brits love great SF.

By Louisa at 5:55 PM ON 11/03/09

I just have to second Ian and many other people who have commented about Defying Gravity. Here in the UK (and the rest of the world that isn't America!) we've only just started seeing the show and we love it! It's seriously unfair that it's already been cancelled. I really hope it gets picked up by another network.

By conlan at 6:15 PM ON 11/03/09

I have to say, the best scifi shows this year are Defying Gravity, Stargate Universe, and Flash Forward. Defying Gravity is defiantly the best best of the three, it's a shame ABC dropped it, I wish SyFy would pick it up.

By Ninjajamie at 6:48 PM ON 11/03/09

BRING BACK Defying Gravity!!! I realy cant understand why its not here...
One of the best show I've seen of late, but was advertised as something its not.. It wasnt even given a chance either. So lets give it a second bash and try and get it recognised! (please?)

By Samantha at 7:28 PM ON 11/03/09

I know I already wrote to you good people ay SyFy elsewhere but I wanted to say it again here...Bring Defying Gravity to the Home it deserves!! DG will automatically become the best show on this network!! It has everything, everything you and we need in a good scifi, mystery and character drama. Everything!! And the FX are beautiful and supportive of the show without being distracting or the weak link. Please, please, please bring DG home.
Thank you
Samantha

By kllck at 7:52 PM ON 11/03/09

DEFYING GRAVITY was wonderful. It seems to have a huge following in the US. It also has a huge INTERNATIONAL following. It will be a shame if it doesnt continue on.
DG andFringe are the two best shows.

By MarciW at 8:29 PM ON 11/03/09

I only watch 2 shows. Medium and I did watch Defying Gravity. They both get to me on such an emotional level. They also both intrigue me soooo much. I wish that they would both continue on for many seasons. Get rid of Ghosthunters. who watches that anyway.

By JCB at 8:30 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity was a fantastic show, as the previous poster said it has a big following internationally and i can vouch for that. I hope someone picks it up although it seems unlikely now. Come on SyFy show them you know an awesome show when you see it.

By russki at 8:50 PM ON 11/03/09

Where was Defying Gravity on the list? As so many other people have mentioned it is a FANTASTIC show which could have found a really good home on SyFy if it had been marketed to them and not ABC. The Networks are all about screwing over the fans, at least with Cable you can vote with your money. I encourage anyone who has a SyFy subscription to write a letter to the company and demand their optioning either a further Season 1 episode order or Season 2 of Defying Gravity, right now!

By MikeS at 9:12 PM ON 11/03/09

You have got to include Defying Gravity!!!! It is absolute AWESOME!!!!

It reminds me of Farscape and Star Trek....but totally different!!!

Add Defying Gravity to the list!!!!!! You'll be happy you did!!!! :-D

By TeddyB at 9:41 PM ON 11/03/09

Ok- lets put Heroes, Fringe and Medium on the SGU ship Destiny and just let them go. Forever. Then we will Flashforward once and watch Defying Gravity which will be resurrected.
Seriously, Flashforward had 1 awesome episode and now I'd rather watch the dishwasher washing. Heroes had 1 awesome season and now I'd rather watch the kids pick their noses. SGU... who cares?
ABC's V just aired and I can already tell that its only going to have 1 decent episode then back to the kids and their noses. I'm turning off the TV. Bring back Defying Gravity.

By Sarabeara at 9:59 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity rocks! I am usually a Stargate, Eureka, Farscape, Andromeda, and so on watcher, but Defying Gravity was a different type of thing, very good! I hope someone buys the rights to this as I want to see what happens next! I'm just making up my own endings atm!

By jillywilly at 10:29 PM ON 11/03/09

i love love love DG. i just watched the last episode 2 weeks ago. I live in Canada. but space is re-running it from the beginning again and i'm watching it for the second time and still loving it. please syfy pick this show up. it's so good.

By Marniemarn at 11:06 PM ON 11/03/09

I keep looking on your site to see if you are going to add Defying Gravity to your lineup. I"m disapointed every time. I wish someone would put this show back on tv. If you had seen the whole season, you would have seen the last episode, episode 13. I was sooo moved by episode 13. It was amazing. This show deserves a home. Please make your viewers happy.

By DebbieE at 11:18 PM ON 11/03/09

I was very upset to see that Defying Gravity was not in your lineup. I would love to see the show picked up. Please reconsider!

By Tathta at 11:50 PM ON 11/03/09

Defying Gravity is an amazing show - and should continue!

By Kristine at 12:08 AM ON 11/04/09

Right now my family is regularly watching Heroes and Fringe. I am still a Heroes fan, even thou most people seem to be fed up with it. We also enjoyed Defying Gravity. But it was pulled off the air.

By JP at 12:15 AM ON 11/04/09

I think that someone picking up the now closed show of Defying Gravity would be an easy add to someones later time slot. I know of a lot of US who have gone out of our way to watch the whole episode run and can say that it was only getting better.

This appears to be a huge mistake on the part of ABC and could easy turn into a black eye for them. This show has at least 3 more years of episodes already in ink and with the amount of time in the back stories makes it much more than a run of the mill Sci-Fi show.

It is up for grabs and I know the most anticipated show for the future is not one that is currently in development but the one that got away.

By Bug at 12:55 AM ON 11/04/09

Defying gravity was one of the best scifi shows I've seen in along time :-). It's a shame all the good scifi shows are so short lived!

By frelling_cute at 1:07 AM ON 11/04/09

Please put Heroes out of it's misery.
Move Fringe to a better time period and as much as I like Smallville. It's time to end the show.
I like Eastwick. Ashame it is getting bad ratings.

By Pilot DAR at 6:04 AM ON 11/04/09

I really enjoyed Defying Gravity, and am very disappointed is has been cancelled. Few shows have had such good charater development, and laid such a solid foundation for future episodes. Our loss...

By Lynnie at 10:03 AM ON 11/04/09

Its a joke that shows like Ghosthunters get air time, and an intelligent, engaging, thought provoking, exciting show like DEFYING GRAVITY gets cancelled.

By SPotter at 11:10 AM ON 11/04/09

SyFy: You should consider picking up "Defying Gravity" and taking the show forward. It is an excellent show, and ABC just destroyed it. SciFi Channel took "Sliders" from fox and did a decent job with it. Please, add "Defying Gravity" to your nightly line up. You will definitely get the viewers. You could dump that hack of a show "Scare Tactics" with Tracy Morgan, and put 'Defying Gravity" in its place.

By FD at 11:34 AM ON 11/04/09

Why isn't Defying Gravity on this list? It's better than all the shows mentioned...ABC made a huge mistake not to give it a chance!

By Stellaluna at 11:38 AM ON 11/04/09

DEFYING GRAVITY should be on this list!! I wish SYFY picks it up, it was so much better than these programs listed!

By rickw at 11:54 AM ON 11/04/09

Defying Gravity should be on this list. It has a huge fan following and was never even advertised, and was started in august. It also has a ton of international fans and buzz. Please pick this show up. It has a great premise and wonderful actors. make it happen. If you pick it up ....it will succeed..... that would serve abc right

By Musicalhugh at 12:16 PM ON 11/04/09

Defying Gravity, is a model of how not to release a show. Throw it on during the dog days of summer and then move it around so it doesn't show up. Give it a shot it does appeal to some people

By BigdaddyK at 12:23 PM ON 11/04/09

My wife has been trying for years to find a show we both can watch. The only two that we have both been able to enjoy and talk about are Fringe and Defying Gravity. We tried Flash Forward, but it just didnt do it for us.
I hope Fringe gets its ratings up, and I wish someone would pick up Defying Gravity. I would pay to watch it online, or watch it live with commercials.

By HilaryD154 at 12:46 PM ON 11/04/09

not to be a hater, but I cant believe Flash forward has good ratings. There is no emotion in that show. all of the characters are soooo serious. it bored me. Smallville and Defying Gravity are the two shows that really speak to me and make me want more. Great characters and great story.

By Tomal at 12:51 PM ON 11/04/09

Pick up Defying Gravity........ I would gladly watch it during the timeslot of ANY of the above listed shows (and it seems by this comment board that many people agree with me).
ABC screwed up bigtime with Defying Gravity.... and from what I gather it was intentional
SciFi is where Defying Gravity belongs... it is meant for intelligent viewers.... not the mindless dribble that watches ABC's reality series and buys into Flash Forward as "intelligent programming"

By dave at 1:07 PM ON 11/04/09

DEFYING GRAVITY is missing from this list!

I cant believe ABC axed it, great show, great and likeable characters...

SYFY if youre listening, put this show back on TV!

By SYFY4ME at 1:15 PM ON 11/04/09

After reading these posts, I see there are MANY people here who also love Defying Gravity. It was a disservice to SciFi fans everywhere for ABC to crush them the way they did. I am with everyone else begging for another season (or 6) of Defying Gravity. PLEASE BRING BACK DEFYING GRAVITY!!!

By mielpops8 at 3:47 PM ON 11/04/09

I'm hoping they'll be picked up by SyFy as well! I love it.

By KTriol at 4:57 PM ON 11/04/09

Defying Gravity, imo, was the BEST Sci-fi offering this year! In fact I'd even go so far as to say it was the Best in several years .. again in my opinion .. While I did really enjoy BSG .. everything in the last few years has been pretty much the same old same old, remakes and rehashes. In fact I have to *chuckle* at a previous poster in their very accurate description of the "new" StarGate offering aka Star Gate Voyager. DG was completely new. Sure some things like human nature are always the same but DG went in a new "what if" direction, it had a very likable Cast and well thought out plot-lines and the potential for some truly beautiful views of our solar system .. Ours not someone else's but OURS. If only ABC hadn't of set out to sabotage themselves by shooting themselves in the foot and canning the series. ABC screwed up royally!

By KTriol at 5:34 PM ON 11/04/09

Quote: And if you're worried about your favorite show, watch it live and watch the commercials. Those initial ratings are still the most important, although terms like "time shift," "DVR +7" and "7 day viewing" are becoming a fact of life we're going to want to embrace, because they're going to keep some of our shows alive. End Quote

I'd like to comment directly on this statement. 'Cause I disagree with it wholeheartedly. The Networks need to start coming into this century by recognizing that the days of people watching Live TV is a thing of the Past. More and more (meaning 1000's not a few dozen) are looking towards the Internet for their sole viewing needs. Not standard TV or even Cable .. they are watching their fave shows on Hulu or the appropriate network site. Our lives, now days, are way more busy and aren't always the old standard of 8a to 5p anymore. We live and work at all hours of the day. People come home from work @ 2am and want to watch those shows that aired at 7p - 10p ... with Hulu and their ilk .. they can. So, just because only 50 people watched a show "LIVE" doesn't mean 5000 people aren't dying to watch it at their convenience! If I was in charge of the Networks .. I'd see this as a good thing. You can charge more $$ for a commercial that is guaranteed to be viewed at least 5x in an 1hr's worth of programming and for it to be the solo focus instead of having to compete with 20 other commercials that all blur into 1 big mess, plus with Internet right there .. more interactive commercials can be done and it's much easier to get that coupon or free sample offer right to the viewer instead of relying of them remembering the website or phone number!

The Networks need to change focus .. We can't. Our lives don't give us the chance to. Between Home, Family, Extended Family, Friends, Work and all the stuff in between that keeps all those things running ..

We have too much to do than to plop ourselves down to be at YOUR convenience. You want our attention? Be available when we have the time! Open up more shows to be Online, allow them to be viewed for longer, give us more reason to visit Your site instead the competition! ... Otherwise .. I'm going to go read a book!

By Killiandros at 7:17 PM ON 11/04/09

I'll add my voice to the growing list - please bring back DEFYING GRAVITY !

This show was a great big breath of fresh air - I was enthralled by the storyline, the deep character development and the likeable and talented actors.

We have enough programs where you receive a superficial 45 minute quick fix of special effects, technical dialogue, super advanced spaceships and villains being defeated.

Dare I say it, the only notable comparison is SG:U which seems to have also tried for a different direction but ultimately ends up a mish-mash with an exciting premise turned dry, woeful character development and young and the restless style acting - what's with all the dramatic pauses and dragged out dialogue? Maybe it'll get better...

Defying Gravity on the other hand - was amazing from the very first episode! It made me want to know what was happening with the current space program in the US and real astronauts. For anyone who hasn't seen it - give it a go, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the depth of Defying Gravity.

By ChristineJ at 8:09 PM ON 11/04/09

Defying Gravity is truly amazing. It got more and more intense with every episode. I couldnt get get enough.....BRING IT BACK! there is a demand for it

pretty much a synopsis of where DG might have gone

On this alone, the show would be great for SYFY

By shaerae at 9:45 PM ON 11/04/09

I"m so pleased to see all the support for Defying Gravity. I too really enjoyed it. I caught it online, not on abc. all 13 episodes were great. I really hope it makes it back on air, or as a movie.

By Tercicc at 9:48 PM ON 11/04/09

I have only watched a bit of Eastwick, but was pleased with what i saw. I need to catch up online. I also started DG online.....I have liked the characters, and how the show the past and present. I hope they both get on air and stay

By thom3333 at 10:57 PM ON 11/04/09

i fight with my wife over what shows we both like and will watch together. the only one we both like is defying gravity. We watched six episodes in one night. I have found that a lot of sci fi people and a lot of WOMEN love this show. it appeals to all crowds. I sure hope it gets back on the air. otherwise, i'm screwed having to watch ghost whisperer with her. bleckkkkk

By geminigirl68 at 11:03 PM ON 11/04/09

I am also a Doctor Who fan. I think its a total travesty that we only get reruns in the US. I am left to desperately search the net for anyone willing to post it and its a nail biting experience!

Defying Gravity is one of the best sci fi shows I've seen come out in a awhile and again I'm truly disappointed that its been cancelled.

How is it that with all the technological advances, they don't have a better way of tracking viewers? If anything, the hits on websites to watch full episodes should also weigh more than it does considering we have to sit through commericals to watch our dearly loved shows! urgh!

By lesdrinkdrink at 11:13 PM ON 11/04/09

I absolutely LOVED Defying Gravity. I could not wait from week to week to watch it. I loved how there were flashbacks, cause it fits it all together, and lets you get to know the characters. I loved all the characters and feel like it had soooo much potential. I really enjoyed reading this interview...but would rather see it play out on screen then read about it. I'm a female in my twenties.I have never been hooked on your typical syfy show....but i'm obsessed with this one. i know a lot of women (and men) who love this show and are devoted followers. I dont care what channel it ends up on and if i have to pay to see it...i just want to see it.

By Morphious at 11:28 PM ON 11/04/09

Bring bac Defying Gravity ... this is a good look at what and why space travel is needed ..

Sadly ABC cancelled Defying Gravity, Syfy should take over the series. Amazing sitcom, 10 star for DG

By adhaincroi at 2:01 PM ON 11/05/09

Sucks that ABC canned Defying Gravity...they don't cater to anyone but the mainstream it seems..I want Drama in Space...and I think there should be at least one network that hears and caters to those of us who don't want reality tv or in the here and now drama...I do hope its picked up here I cant wait to find out what happens

By moore008 at 9:15 PM ON 11/05/09

I am so happy to see all the Defying Gravity posts. I loved that show and hope it doesnt go away. I preordered the first season online and reallllly hope there are more seasons to come. Someone needs to pick up this show.

By Explorersw at 11:33 PM ON 11/05/09

Joining in with the others that would like to see Defying Gravity considered as well! It's not the fans' fault that ABC couldn't manage the show to save their life. I don't watch much TV, but Defying Gravity had me hooked from the very start, and I'm devastated by the idea that there won't be any future seasons. If ANY other network would pick this up and fund a 2nd season, I will love them forever, and probably spend money on whatever is advertised during the show, lol.
So don't forget DG as one of this years Fall SciFi shows!

Definitely just a couple of people posting the Defying Gravity praise under various names. That show looked great, had good actors but was painfully slow and the writing was terrible.

By Area52 at 12:07 AM ON 11/07/09

Well, we can't let DG2SLOW rain on the Defying Gravity parade. Describing the show as "painfully slow and the writing was terrible"... my original thought was that DG2SLOW was describing Stargate Universe. Cancel SGU and bring on Defying Gravity.

Just looking at many of the posts here makes me think about the reason SyFy rebranded its logo. I was told that the brand evolution was to attract more people outside of the science fiction genre. It would appear that if "Defying Gravity" crossed the sci-fi lines and attracted those viewers that SyFy was trying to attract, then the obvious course of action would be for SyFy to find a way to acquire DG.

Seems simple enough to me. If ABC has truly cancelled DG, then SyFy could easily scoop it up for re-running the first season. Then SyFy could work with the production companies on methods to make the show more profitable for a second season (like multiple production companies to share the costs of rebuilding sets). Then SyFy could laugh its own ass off as it becomes the home to another potentially long running series.

Makes sense to me. DG should be on a list for SyFy to get hold of quickly and make a run of episodes.

SGu is dreadful. Way too slow a pace, and I find myself not even liking or caring what happens to the characters. I haven't given up yet, but thanks to the DVR, I can fast forward through the many boring parts and waste less time watching it. I love Fringe, Flash Forward and Heroes, and although I do watch it, I don't think I'll miss Dollhouse if it's cancelled. Sanctuary isn't bad (way better than SGU) but is inconsistent.

By mikeroy at 9:42 PM ON 11/07/09

I hope Heroes gets cancelled. I never loved that show for as much hype as it had. I tried to get into it...but never did. I feel like the acting is sooooo bland.
Defying Gravity did grab my attention, I dont know if its cause i was always interested in space or what, but I love the actors, the mission, the stuff going on back home, how they do the flashbacks. I love Ron Livingston, hes very likeable, and I enjoy him doing the voiceover thru out. This show would be a hit if it was on in a good slot, and got a little advertising.

Another vote for Defying Gravity. Having seen the entire 1st season (13 episodes), I have to wonder why ABC stopped showing it after 8. The last part of the Season was mezmerizing. SciFi should at least pick those up for American audiences.

Now, I suspect that the show really wouldn't hold up for 7 seasons, but there is at least 20-30 episodes more of story to tell.

It would be a sin to let a show of this caliber die just because the 13-year-olds couldn't stand the lack of ray guns.

By dent at 5:56 PM ON 11/08/09

I too thought Defying Gravity to be one of the bright spots this season, only to find that ABC canceled. It does seem like the kind of thing that should have been on SyFy from the beginning.

By sundog at 6:37 PM ON 11/08/09

I wish Defying Gravity was on this list. I had to look all over to try to find the end of season 1. It really gets better and better as you go, everyone I know that watched it, fell in love with the characters. I love how the director does the flashbacks to explain the past and build the characters.
Get rid of Ghosthunters, and pick up DG!!!!!!!!

By DG2SLOW at 11:28 PM ON 11/08/09

If as many people watched Defying Anatomy / Grey's Gravity as posted praise here the show would not have been cancelled. Unfortunately the writing sucked and the show draaaaaagged on and they blew it.

DG made SGU seem fast paced in comparison.

Not enough explosions and gunplay for you I guess. Character development and studying the human condition when placed in extreme conditions is the basis of all great sci-fi and drama. I suggest that DG2SLOW returns to his star wars collectibles and forget about attempting to respond to intelligent support for a show.

ABC has not officially cancelled the show, but is sitting on it and killed it because it was competition for Lost, Flash Forward, and V. If ABC had produced it, you can bet the house that it would have advertised and scheduled the series for success.

Defying Gravity needs to be picked up by SyFy even if it's just for the viewerbase outside of the US that don't even realise that ABC have already cancelled the show. All these people will be sorely disappointed, I know I am :-(

By skorbo at 6:42 AM ON 11/10/09

im from the uk so dont know much about ABC but it sounds bad that they should pick up a brilliant program like DEFYING GRAVITY just to kill it . shown by the fact that they did not complete the first season over in the US im just glad that the bbc has picked it up over here and with a bit off luck even SyFy will see the potential and take this brillint program on board

By Javana at 11:21 AM ON 11/10/09

It was really long time ago , many years since i loved some show as match as Defying Gravity. If it is really not going to continue , it is horrible mistake.

By Cam at 7:06 AM ON 11/11/09

Where's Defying Gravity?

Great script - great show - great effects - god awful marketing.

Will someone pick up this great show - it's a cult fav for the future, sort it!

By mss555 at 11:58 AM ON 11/11/09

I agree with the posts about Defying Gravity. I have never seen a show like it. It brings out such emotion, the characters, the acting, the music, the way they build the characters, and the whole storyline has so much interest and potential. This show belonged on Syfy from the beginning...I really hope that syfy realizes that this is a great find, and makes it their own.

Hi... i agree with all the posts that favoring Defying Gravity.... i my self didnt find a show that catched my attention like DG did... i am a fan of stargate sg1 and now watching Ghost Whisperer along with Stargate Universe but man i couldnt wait to watch DG... it has the right cast, a great decor and the best story ever in my OPINION...

Defying Gravity needs to come back. Kings would be nice as well! There's not enough good SciFi going on out there, so keep SG-U, but please bring back SG Atlantis. Would love to see Firefly come back, but it's been so long now. Keep FlashFoward and Fringe. Not into Sanctuary for some reason.

Anyway, it would be a real shame to lose Defying Gravity. Excellent drama and exciting space stuff!

It's amazing how many comments there are on Defying Gravity. If that doesn't clue in the networks, nothing will.

It's sad that I didn't even know the show aired. I found it at Hulu and fell in love with it. Dying to see more.

Some smart network should pick it up and make the bucks. Seems to me you can't go wrong showing this one.

Been enjoying FlashForward and True Blood in particular, but very, very, VERY frustrated with ABC for dropping it mid-series. Here in the UK, we've also been left dangling as the lead broadcaster (with first-show rights) has blocked the final five -- not helped by the Beeb playing "schedule tennis" with it. It deserves better. _Much_ better.

By guffmuffin at 7:04 PM ON 12/01/09

PLEASE Bring back Defying Gravity! Canceling such a fantastic show is pure lunacy. This is the best sci-fi since Firefly.

By MMI at 11:43 AM ON 12/14/09

(I am betting my comment does not make the cut, but here it goes anyway!)

SyFi will never air "Defying Gravity" or be involved in the production of anything like it. They are only interested in B- movies and wrestling. You only have to look at the long list of SciFi shows they canceled in their prime, or that SyFi never even produced to see that this channel is a complete waste of time. After the "FireFly" cancellation fiasco we should all know what to expect from this station, and Entertaining Science Fiction is NOT it!

DG is an amazing opportunity to explore the possibilities of what it COULD be like to visit our neighbors in this solar system. There is plenty of room for science here. The idea of successfully exploring these places and the whole thing with the objects they are after gives unprecedented opportunity for fiction.

The added elements of character development and even romance are great for plot twists and development, as well as for demographics.

Instead I get to watch Wrestling - if I wasted my time with this channel at all.

All Syfi needs to do to keep me as a viewer is continue SG-U, for now, and bring in more shows like DG. And if they cut SG-U - as we all know they will, when it becomes a success - then they will do me a favor, because that is the only show that prevents me from cutting the block of channels that I pay extra for, which includes SyFi.

SyFi, you have put an end to the science and intelligence, you are recycling fiction because you are out of original ideas. Could you change your name one last time? My suggestion is Why-TV.

So do me a favor already SyFi, cut the last of anything worth watching so I can dump you already!

By Ben at 5:00 PM ON 12/23/09

I think Sci-Fi should listen to what the fans crave. So many people, including me really want Defying Gravity picked up. its such a shame to let such a well made show with a great story go to waste!
Please answer our prayers and let there be more defying gravity!

By Jamie Thomas at 5:52 PM ON 12/23/09

Defying Gravity needs to come back for a second series. ABC made a stupid decision in dropping a show they didn't even advertise or give a fair shot.

By griot at 7:24 PM ON 01/11/10

Whole-heartedly agree that Defying Gravity rates a second season. Shameful that ABC bobble-heads dropped it mid-season and viewers were forced to track down the remaining episodes of season 1 on the net.

By Elda at 9:22 PM ON 01/30/10

Would love very much to see Defying Gravity back on again for another season.
