We've got the scoop on a new Buffy series!

We\'ve got the scoop on a new \<i\>Buffy\<\/i\> series!

Buffy lives!

No, not the proposed Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie that wouldn't involve creator Joss Whedon or anyone from the beloved TV show, which all serious Bronzers consider an abomination against nature.

Rather, a series of motion-comic webisodes based on Whedon's highly successful series of "Season Eight" comics.

An actor friend of ours has clued us in to the casting of the new Buffy webisodes, which makes it sound like the proposed Web series is moving ahead quickly.

Based on the breakdown, the series will be based on the comics and feature the characters Twilight, the Big Bad of Season Eight, and evil British socialite Slayer Lady Genevieve Savidge, who plots to usurp Buffy's place in the Slayer hierarchy.

Casting director Jeff Shuter is also looking for voice actors to play the parts of familiar Buffyverse characters Faith, Kennedy and Robin Wood, as well as a bunch of new characters (including someone who sounds like actor Daniel Craig to play a character based on the James Bond star).

Now that Dollhouse is winding up, Cabin in the Woods is delayed until 2011 and there's no new Dr. Horrible on the immediate horizon, this is the best news yet for a Whedonite. Yay!

This is great...except where do you send your electronic submission ?

By Rowan Hawthorn at 8:49 AM ON 11/16/09

How about getting *Iyari Limon* to play Kennedy? She's done several voice roles over the last couple of years, and the voice should be a good match...

By jedimom at 9:00 AM ON 11/16/09

but there IS a Dr horrible sequel on the horizon!!

see here:
Now, Whedon’s brother and co-writer Zack Whedon tells MTV that the sequel will get seriously underway once Joss’ just-canceled Fox series Dollhouse wraps for the season.

“They finish up ‘Dollhouse’ in the winter—at least what they’ve scheduled to shoot thus far—so hopefully when that’s done, we’ll all be able to get together more frequently and grind it out,” he explained. “There are a couple of songs written. It’s very promising. We’re all very excited about where it goes.”

He also confirmed that the sequel will feature Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) and Captain Hammer (Fillion). Duh.

“Yeah, you have to see them in the sequel,” he laughed. “We will expand the world a little bit into other areas you have not seen… and it will be hilarious.”

The entire Dr. Horrible creative team—Joss, Zack, brother Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife, Maurissa Tancharoen—are back for the sequel….

Why not just get the original cast to reprise their roles?

By Simon at 9:51 AM ON 11/16/09

"Why not just get the original cast to reprise their roles?"

I doubt the budget would stretch to that.

By Allison&Jack at 10:32 AM ON 11/16/09

Sigh, I love Joss Whedon, and loved buffy, but my distain for comic books and cartoons turns me off from this. How disappointing that they don't just bring the series back as live action.

It's not like Sarah Michelle Geller is really doing anything these days.

By Niko at 10:33 AM ON 11/16/09

I was so excited, but then I saw the job ads say "motion comics." I don't like motion comics. They're just a lazy compromise between comics and cartoons. Just fully animate the darn thing.

It would be nice to get Eliza Dushku back as Faith. Her show's getting canceled, so she might need the work.

By Fuelbot at 11:06 AM ON 11/16/09

How lazy are you that you can't read a comic book? Seriously. This is stupid.

Also, anyone who still considers comic books or cartoons "kiddie fare" needs to be slapped. Comic books are far more interesting these days than any movie coming out. Why do you think they're all being adapted?

By Tabz at 11:10 AM ON 11/16/09

That's a real generalization Fuelbot. Some folks can't read (like a good friend of mine who is confined to a wheelchair and can't turn pages in a book).

Motion comics can be great (if done well) as evidenced by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKxbtsmxH9g

By hmmm1 at 11:21 AM ON 11/16/09

trolls be trollin'

By JohnBoze at 11:22 AM ON 11/16/09

Motion comics can be a valid form. The Watchmen motion comic was good, and it wasn't even heavily animated, featuring a only a single reader.

It can be considered an analogue of audiobook vs regular book. A good audiobook adds more than just a lazy way of "reading" a novel.

By Veiriti at 11:38 AM ON 11/16/09

I don't take any interest on Buffy S 8 - After issue 3 I've stopped to buy these comic books. I didn't like the storyline, all these new characters are boring! I love Buffy and Willow, but I can't stand Xander even in a picture - he always was my less favorite character on the show.
And the main reason - NO SPIKE!!! Spike is my most favorite character - I'm a huge fan of him and I'm going to watch that web series or to read the comics only if Spike returns on it... The writers of season 8 ruined one of the best storylines of the show - the relationship between Spike and Buffy and I'm very dissapointed of that...
But I love and I've bought Spike/Angel After the fall series and now I'm waiting for the outgoing Spike solo series. Brian Lynch is an excellent writer, Scott Allie's writers can't compare with him at all!
And finally I would love to see something with the real actors – Buffy/Angel movie crossover or Spike movie or tv-spin-off instead that animated web episodes!

By Drew at 11:50 AM ON 11/16/09

I read a bunch of the comics, but they are just SO stupid. Dawn's arc alone made them unreadable. And then Joss' little "Oops! I forgot that we killed Warren and had the First take his form!" just proved that he wasn't even really trying.

The plots were absurd. The characters weren't themselves in so many ways. Everything that made the series great was not only missing, but was completely turned around, becoming everything wrong with the comics. Joss lost the voice of the series, and when that happened, he lost me as a fan.

By sparrowlord01 at 12:01 PM ON 11/16/09

Come on people. This is going to be the lamest of all possibilities for a new Buffy Series.... And if they do an animated series, that pretty much precludes any possibility of a REAL Buffy series anytime in the next decade... This is going to be such a colossal waste of airtime......... LIVE ACTION!!! Not FREAKIN ANIMATED JUNK!

By itoy247 at 12:10 PM ON 11/16/09

i really don't understand you, Joss
what does it take for you to know what your audience and fans REALLY want??
why do you have to make something so memorable and wonderful such as the Buffy series and then ruin it like that???
the comics weren't good, the fans are begging for a Spike and Buffy reunion and you just tease us with season 8 based motion-comics and without Spike?!!!!!
i won't even bother myself watching that...and just for the info, most of the people i know bought and read the season 8 Buffy comics on the hope of a spuffy reunion not because the comics were so brilliant or good...and for me, any other attempt of a tv show, movie or motion-comics is useless unless Spike is there

By Veiriti at 12:12 PM ON 11/16/09

I totally agree with you Drew! The plots were absurd! I’ve tried to read some issue online, but I decide to don’t bother myself with that crap! And the art is beyond awful! But love the After the Fall series, Spike Asylum and Shadow puppets. And I’m a fan of Brian Lynch more than Joss’s fan… because Brian is doing Spike’s and Angel’s characters so right!
I’m so sorry I was fan of Buffy actually Spike made me a huge fan of the show… But like I said the writers of Season 8 totally forgot about him and his relationship with Buffy as he never existed in her life before. That’s so WRONG – Spike earned his soul for her, gave her strength to fight and to find the scythe, when all her Scoopbies friend abandoned her. He was the only man who never abandoned her until his dead… And in the end he sacrificed his life for her and for saving the word!! And I’m so pissed that the writers even didn’t mention about him… Spike is Whedon’s best character and he ignored him…
And that about the giant Dawn was so lame too! And I’ve heard they’re going to make Xander new Buffy’s love interest … That’s… uhhhhhhhhhh… sorry I have no words!!!! I'm die hard Spuffy fan, but I prefer to see Buffy with Angel agan than with that bloody selfish jerk!!!

By stargazer at 12:23 PM ON 11/16/09

So....does this mean bi-curious Buffy in motion.....?

By ckale at 12:39 PM ON 11/16/09

Hey Fuelbot, some people don't like comics because THEY DON'T LIKE COMICS. I don't like comics. I don't care for the art (especially the BtVS art), I don't care for the format, I don't care for comics period. I don't think they're "just for kiddies", I DO like animation, and hey, let me get rude right back at you - I wish people would just LET GO of Buffy and move on.

By billydakidd at 12:57 PM ON 11/16/09

Oh, poor Spikey fans. They gonna go off and sulk now 'cause their widdle sweetie ain't in the comics. Oh, boo-hoo, cry me a river. Hell, the fandom's better off for it if you stay away.

By Drew at 1:05 PM ON 11/16/09

For the record, I'm more of a Spike fan before he was de-fanged. I'm not a Buffy/Spike shipper. I'm not completely opposed to Buffy/Xander in theory, though I think he and Willow would work better (Oh, I can't wait for the replies to that comment). I do like comic books, but I think Joss and his team are just not very good at writing them. I bought the Buffy Omnibus, Volume 1, which collects comics written before Joss was in control of the comics and some of them are actually really good reads. I can't even hear the characters when reading the Whedon season 8. The voices aren't there. The personalities aren't there.

So, all of that, along with over the top, corny, nonsensical storylines turned me off of Buffy season 8. Supergirl sounds more like Buffy these days than Buffy does.

By billydakidd at 1:16 PM ON 11/16/09

For the record, read some of the comments above yours. I don't agree with your opinions, but at least they're honest opinions and not slobbering fangirlitis.

By Bobbigboy at 1:31 PM ON 11/16/09

Not everyone wants a Spike and Buffy reunion and I'm pretty happy Spike has no involvment in season 8.I'm glad he's over at IDW with Angel and away from the Buffy comics and Buffy herself. The season 8 comics seem to be doing just fine without him.

By rehabber at 1:39 PM ON 11/16/09

The only comics I get interested in are the ones that have Spike or Dru and really looking forward to the new Spike series. The only reason I even stayed with Buffy season 4-7 was because of Spike. He was the best character ever on TV and Joss is missing a big bet not using James in a movie or series.

By NJKitty at 1:56 PM ON 11/16/09

Where do you ELECTRONICALLY submit the reels?

thanks!

By Ephiny at 2:05 PM ON 11/16/09

>>It's not like Sarah Michelle Geller is really doing anything these days.

Um...okay, maybe you don't think so, but most women consider being a stay-at-home mom to be 'doing something'. I think it's admirable that she's not leaving her daughter's care to some nanny. She's got plenty of time to go back to work later.

By lindyxmjh at 2:15 PM ON 11/16/09

Plus SMG is bit too old to be playing a Slayer in her twenties anymore. She put the whole being Buffy thing behind a long time ago, so should the fans.

Anyway, I've been a fan for a long time, but like many people, I can see why "Season 8" is so bad and so boring. It's only slightly better than the final TV Season 7, but what makes things worse with this book is that they don't have UPN and the budget issues as an excuse anymore for the poor plotlines and bad special effects. This is a comic book, you where if you want something to happen, you just draw it and it happened.

Really, it's just further proof that Joss should have stuck to his original plan and ended everything with Season 5. End it strong, just like what happened with Angel.

Also the lack of Spike in Season 8 is a good thing. The Buffy/Spike plotline played its course, and Spike got to move on to another series and got to be like his old self again. Not to mention, they had at least one episode of Angel which dealt with both Angel and Spike's relationship with Buffy without her even being in the episode. It was about how things change and it's time to move on.

By Veiriti at 3:36 PM ON 11/16/09

billydakidd, Joss and the other creators want to make money! And for me only Spike can make me to spend my money for Joss's stuff. I'm buying everything connected with Spike - comic books, I have got Buffy seasons 2, 4,5,6,7; Angel season 5, few Buffy's books with Spike centric character, 5 action figures of Spike.
Spike has got a huge fandom and lots of fans over the world – like or not you couldn’t belittle us. And most of the the Spike fans that I know are and Spike\Buffy shippers and they aren’t pleased with Scott Allie's crappy comic books! Personally I wouldn't give a penny for these series, even I don’t want to waste my time to read them for free, because the non mention of a such main character as Spike is a kind of offensive to me. And that's not only my opinion. So staying away from these comics maybe is not so good for their creators... I mean no interest, no money…
You may hate Spike, but he is one of the most popular Whedon characters and no one of you can't deny it! Spike makes # 1 of 50 greatest vampires all the time on SFX magazine, beating Edward and Christopher Lee’s Dracula. Spike and Buffy makes # 1 the hottest tv couple ever.'Last week Spike won on Paley fest - tv Greatest Vampire. You couldn’t belittle it too!
indyxmjh I do agree with you. It would be nice if Spike gets his own tv series. Spike is popular enough to take his own spin-off show! Joss Whedon and the tv networks only would gain by it! I’d love to see James Marsters back on tv as Spike, but I would watch Spike animated series as well, voiced by James! But I wouldn’t watch Buffy animated series based on season 8… NO BLOODY WAY!

By LGB at 3:39 PM ON 11/16/09

Drew, Yay another person who agrees with the Buffy/Xander idea in theory, I've been begging for that since the first freaking episode (He save her life, a dinner date is not that much to ask)

I kind of like the idea that they're making a motion comic, mostly because it proves that there's still a large audience for Buffy that want's more things from these characters and this universe. Though really I think if they asked the actors from the actual show they'd peobably be able to get them, I mean Sarah might be difficult but if they can't get her then they could get the woman that played Buffy in the vieo game. Really if it's not the original voices or insanely good sound alikes it's going to sound very weird, and not in the good way. And who know's, if this motion comic is popular enough maybe it could lead to a fully fledged animated series, it's pretty clear people want more Buffy stuff, we just need to prove to the companies that it's still financially viable

By LGB at 3:45 PM ON 11/16/09

Oh and to the Spike lovers, read the Angel comics because that's where Spike is right now. These comics are canon to the series and after season 5 of Angel it's only logical that Spike would remain in LA fighting that fight and so he's in the comics that are based in LA. He may be a superpowerful vampire but without the use of Toth's stick he can't be in two places at once

By Allison&Jack at 4:02 PM ON 11/16/09

@Um...okay, maybe you don't think so, but most women consider being a stay-at-home mom to be 'doing something'. I think it's admirable that she's not leaving her daughter's care to some nanny. She's got plenty of time to go back to work later.

Ever heard of context? Obviously not. When I said she wasn't doing anything these days, I obviously meant Hollywood wise. I didn't even know she had a kid (nor do I care), I simply know that she hasn't done anything worthwhile (again movie/tv show wise - its pretty sad to have to clarify that) since Buffy ended (I mean come on Southland Tales? Really?).

By Allison&Jack at 4:08 PM ON 11/16/09

@Also, anyone who still considers comic books or cartoons "kiddie fare" needs to be slapped. Comic books are far more interesting these days than any movie coming out. Why do you think they're all being adapted?

Just to be clear, I never said they were kiddie fare, as there are quite a few comic series that I'd never give to a kid to read. I'm just not a fan of the medium.

By Katie at 4:13 PM ON 11/16/09

Oh dear, all these rabid Spike fans are giving us normal ones a bad name.
We're not all insane, I promise! I preferred Spike bad, and James Marsters has said he preferred Spike that was (much more fun to play). The neutering of his character once he fell for Buffy was such a waste for a once fantastic character. I do agree that once he went over to Angel he became much more fun again.
I read the 1st part of After the Fall and didn't like it, so I just stick with the TV series. Same with the Buffy comics, I didn't like where they were going, bored me. I didn't like the potentials all becoming Slayers and Kennedy in particular was a horrible character. Nicholas Brendan seemed horrified to be told that Xander and Dawn were an item, I quite agree with him. EWW!
I think I'll be sticking to my DVDs if I want a Buffy fix.
(Though I am English, maybe I should audition for the English Lady? Hee hee)

By Veiriti at 4:34 PM ON 11/16/09

Yep, LGB, as I mentioned above I'm enjoy reading After the Fall Series and I have got all of them on hardcovers + Spike Asylum, Shaddow Puppets and Spike omnibus. I can't wait for the outgoing Spike solo series next year! Brian Lynch is awesome!!!
But because I'm a Spuffy shipper it would be nice Spike to make an appearance on Season 8 ;) Poor Buffy she is so lost without Spike - first she slept with a girl, no gorgeous men around her - nor Spike, nor Angel... only that git Riley returns and that stupid wanker Xander is around her... I really sorry for her - she definitely needs a Spike fix!
Katie, bad or good Spike is the same awesome character!!! The best character not only in Whedonverse! And we are normal fans, no need to offend us because you don't like Spike!
And I would like Dawn and Xander together - they are well matched! That means more. ;) sense! But anyway Season 8 sucks!

By shadow at 6:44 PM ON 11/16/09

Hey Joss Whedon, I think it is time to reopen the vampire world again, this time based on Faith. Since vampires are popular these days.

By Faith at 7:05 PM ON 11/16/09

Making Buffy animated series would be a big mistake by my opinion.
I’d love to see Faith\Spike reunion. The vampires are very popular now and Spike is stll popular even more than Edward Cullen

By bobbigboy at 8:23 PM ON 11/16/09

Veiriti,Joss is the creative force behind these Buffy comics. Not Scott Allie. It's Joss who hasn't included Spike probably because as far as Whedon is concerned,Spike's story on Buffy is over whether you like it or not. Both Spike and Angel have made some cameos.

As for money,Buffy season 8 is the highest selling none DC or Marvel book regularly. It has made the top 10 best selling list of comics several times.Where the Angel and Spike comics never even get close to that although I think they are good.So again, sales wise,Buffy season 8 doesn't seem to need Spike or his rabid fan group. It's doing just fine without them and has been for a couple years.

As for the Paleyfest poll, the rabid Spiker's won a poll where multi voting was allowed.Check out the live journals and forums. An organized rally to stuff polls does not prove much in my eyes.Spike is popular but I notice Spike and Buffy/Spike can't seem to win polls where cheating is not allowed. On polls where only one vote is allowed,Angel and Buffy/Angel usually wins those.

Spike is no longer a part of the Buffy side of the verse whether Spike and Buffy/Spike fans like it or not.And to be fair, neither is Angel and Buffy/Angel.You want to read about Spike?IDW has been doing some excellent comics with him.

By MogHut at 11:50 PM ON 11/16/09

@ The people asking how to submit:
that's an Actor's Access call. If you are professional, live in California, have a audio reel and are serious you can make an account there and upload it. Or better yet to be taken seriously: get an agent.

By distancel at 11:59 PM ON 11/16/09

Xander...and Dawn? I read through all the comments on here and that one almost made me dry retch. I liked all the characters in Buffy and Angel, except Dawn and Kennedy. I still would like to read all the comics, but they seem so expensive. As for the idea of another season of Buffy or a spin off...ALL of the actors are TOO OLD now. Angel season 3-5 were good, but the 'immortal vampire/s' were definitely showing their age.

I for one, would rather picket for more Firefly or Dollhouse, but it seems that is even LESS likely to happen. I watched through all the seasons of Buffy and Angel and you know they are good, but I really did think that Firefly and Dollhouse were somehow more interesting and compelling. Except that rabid teenage girls don't go crazy over them. Nevermind.

By ageless at 1:23 AM ON 11/17/09

You're thinking along exactly my lines, distancel. 7 television seasons is about as far as you can stretch an actor as non-aging vamp. If you decided to use the humans, you'd have to come up with some major story arc about why the vampires are slowly aging at the moment!

By Veiriti at 3:39 AM ON 11/17/09

A webisode about Faith and Giles would be interesting. I hope the creators will use gorgeous Jo Chen's images.

As to Buffy's story - I'd love to see her further adventures with Spike, as well as with Scoobies. What about a crossover with IDW characters? :)

By billydakidd at 9:04 AM ON 11/17/09

Veiriti: So, you're going to cite James Marsters' website and fan polls that allow you to vote as many times as you want as "official" evidence that "Spike is da bestest", and you then have the balls to refer to someone else as "Bangel addicted"? That's rich, that is. Katie was right.

By Turboboost at 11:02 AM ON 11/17/09

I would love to see more live action with the real Buffy but find this new avenue interesting. I will definately be checking it out.
It would be preferable to have the actors voice the characters, especially the main ensemble; Buffy, Will, Xander, Giles and Angel. Anything else and it might seem off.

I had to laugh out loud when I saw that the Spike fans are still around trying to shove the character down everyones throat. He isn't even in the Buffy comic. Guess some things never change and then some things do. Cause he isn't IN the Buffy comic. LOL

By Veiriti at 11:39 AM ON 11/17/09

Actually, Billy, I’ve posted that link because there are a phone number and if you live outside the UK you can order the magazine. Unfortunately the other link has gone. But I HAVE GOT that magazine and if you send me your e-mail I can send you some scans from it!
And why “Bangel addicted” sounds offending for you? Yep, some live journals are for Bangel addicted, and some of them are for Spuffy addicted. I’m Spike addicted and I’m proud with it!
And I’m good with the Bangel fans, and I’m an Angel fan as well (mostly Cangel and Spangel) And I ever try to do not offend the other fans because of their opinion, but I really can’t stand the people who hate Spike! And the other reason which putted me off the Buffy comic books was the Spike-haters opinions which Scott Allie loves to post on the back pages of his issues! I think he does it on purpose, because he’s a Spike-hater in fact. Yeah, unfortunately he’s managing these comics series not Joss – Joss only holds the rights. Before the Angel comics to be announced we have posted lots of mails why we want Spike to returns on Buffy Season 8, you can’t see our opinions there, but the back pages are plenty with nasty Spike-haters opinions which openly offending me! It’s very unprofessional!

By thebuffster at 11:46 AM ON 11/17/09

Okay, in regards to the comics and Spike, all I think people were really getting at is it would have just been nice to have some mention of him. After all, Buffy loved Spike (and I do believe she loved him for far longer than she realized) and she all but told him in "End of Days" that if they both survived the battle she was ready for an honest relationship with him. Giving how she felt about him (and being unaware of his return), she would have grieved his death. It would have made most sense to at least deal with that in the comics rather than treat it as if he never existed in her life at all.

As for the comics themselves, I bought the first one but wasn't impressed enough to continue purchasing them. Buffy (the followed by Angel) will forever and always remain my favorite TV show, however the comics seem to ruin the legacy for me. The storylines seem so different and the characters don't seem to maintain their same personalities. Sorry, it's just how I feel. As for the webisodes, I really just hope they won't destroy Buffy as we know and love it. At least the project is Whedon-approved, unlike the bogus movie proposal (btw, are they *really* going through with this?!)

Finally, though I feel it would have been nice to have some sort of movie/spin-off with the original cast, I have to agree with distancel that it is too late now. Buffy has been done for six years now, and the cast has moved on to other things. SMG is a new mom, Alyson is in HIMYM, David is in Bones, Anthony is in Merlin, and Eliza and Joss are with Dollhouse. Given what is current, I fully agree that more work should have been done to save Dollhouse, which is a wonderful, ORIGINAL show that thoroughly got screwed over by FOX!

By itoy247 at 1:18 PM ON 11/17/09

billydakidd, you obviously didn't even open the links Veiriti posted...James Marsters' website DID NOT make the vote...it only published the news...also the polls were you can vote as much as you want doesn't allow only spike fans to vote many times, does they?
Angel fans, Edward fans...everyone can vote as much as they want so since chances are equal, i believe these polls are as reliable as any other poll out there...and none of the sites on the links are Spike fans site...and the SciFi is definitly official

as for those who keep saying that Spike fans are just girls drooling over his hotness...or those who thinks Spike got less interesting when he fell for Buffy...that's true, only from a superficial point of view...Spike IS hot, no denying that...but HE IS ALSO a very deep and complicated character....looking at that depth and forgetting the hotness and the snarkiness you can never say he got less interesting at anytime...don't get me wrong i love his witty snarky soulless character...but his soulful character, the vampire with a soft spot and great ability to love and sacrifice...that's what captured me the most
and that's why Spike was and always will be my n# 1tv character ever

finally those who say that Spike and Buffy's storyline ended...HELLO!!! it was left open ended, not ended....Buffy up untill now doesn't know Spike is alive...last thing she ever told him was that she loved him and now she thinks he's dead...and we know for sure he will always love her...so how many possibilities are there if she ever found out he was alive or if they meat again???

and you guys actually think that attacking the Spike fans as a defensive way is gonna get you where exactly??? YES i love Spike, and YES he is my favorite vampire and tv character ever, and YES i think that any new Buffy project without Spike is worthless and i'm not the only one who think that so if you think that's crazy or fangirlie or any other thing that will keep you from admitting how Spike's character and Spike/Buffy's relationship might be deeper than you can absorb or understand, than fine...just deal with it...i couldn't care less...and i will write Spike supporting comments as much as i want...and you guys could support whatever ideas you want and stop attacking others

By billydakidd at 1:49 PM ON 11/17/09

I didn't need to open the links, I know what they are. They're internet polls, just like a thousand others that get posted every day, and no more "official" than any of the others. You Spike fans are so desperate to validate your obsession... you're deluding yourselves if you think that ANY of this internet poll foolishness means anything in the real world. As far as your opinion that "any new Buffy project without Spike is worthless" is concerned: I'll bet fans of the *Buffyverse* as opposed to *Spike* are going to cry themselves to sleep worrying about your worthless opinion. Oh, wait...

i believe i said I THINK...and MY WORTHLESS OPENION is Mine..i never said it was something forced over the universe...and who gave you any right to speake on behalf of others, anyways??? and in a unrespectable way at that.
maybe if you were civilised enough you would have understood what i said...but you wouldn't understand when i say "everyone is free to support whatever he wants" ...and since you're all high and mighty self is all above these internet foolishness and you think other people's openions are "worthless" than maybe you shouldn't bother at all and don't favor us with you critisism or precious openions and analysis of the 'Spike fan character'

By Steelwings at 2:17 PM ON 11/17/09

The reason they aren't hiring the original actors is because this is a non-union breakdown. All the Buffy cast are SAG and can't work without a union contract.

itoy247: "maybe you shouldn't bother at all and don't favor us with you critisism or precious openions and analysis of the 'Spike fan character'"

When you Spike fans stop favoring the rest of us with opinions of things where Spikey is irrelevant, I'll keep my opinions to myself, too. Until then, if you don't like anything he's not a part of, maybe you don't need to bother telling the rest of us, because we don't care.

By billydakidd at 2:47 PM ON 11/17/09

Oh, and if you don't believe that, maybe we should do an internet poll about it.

Poll: "Do you really care if Spike fans hate anything he's not a part of?"

By Veiriti at 3:57 PM ON 11/17/09

Very well said itoy247. I couldn't add more! Sorry Billy, but I'm posting another link, which probably would worthless for you again. Relax, It's not a poll results this time - its an article on Buzz multimedia publishing - Why We Need Spike
http://blog.buzzymultimedia.com/why-we-need-spike/

By Veiriti at 4:00 PM ON 11/17/09

And I'd like to add Spike's not opposite of the Buffyverse - he IS the part of Buffyverse and he's the best part of Buffyverse indeed! With huge fan base, he's my most favorite character, but I do love other characters as well - Angel, Buffy, Illyria, Willow, Wesley, Andrew, Cordy, Anya, Giles... Only Xander and Riley are my least fav. characters and I can't stand Xander from the beginning, long before to became a fan of Spike. I don't know why, but this character ever was so annoying and worthless character for me, but that's only my opinion! ;) Turboboost said "it would be preferable to have the actors voice the characters, especially the main ensemble; Buffy, Will, Xander, Giles and Angel." Actually Angel is not a part of Buffy's main ensemble from season 4. Angel was on Buffy show 3 seasons, Spike was 5 seasons, but he's not a part from the "main ensemble" by your opinion, is he?! So. I'm seeing you want Angel back on Buffy Season 8? And I want Spike back on it! So what is the difference? You’re Bangel fan, I’m Spuffy! It would be nice too see these two vampires fighting for Buffy's attention and love ;) I’d love to see Spike-Buffy-Angel love triangle as in her dream! LOL Buffy, Spike, Angel reunion would make more interesting the boring storyline of season 8!

By billydakidd at 4:37 PM ON 11/17/09

"he's the best part of Buffyverse indeed"

That's your opinion. Doesn't make it true, and doesn't mean everybody feels that way. If the 'verse is empty for you without Spike in it, that's your problem. Some of us like it just fine without him OR Angel.

By twiggy at 8:27 PM ON 11/17/09

I watched BTVS for Spike. I watched ATS for Angel and Spike. I have no interest in this. zzzzz,

By itoy247 at 10:59 PM ON 11/17/09

LOL
Oh...My...God

Veiriti, i think you should really stop replying to that Billydakidd posts...its not worth it hun.
she argues for the sake of arguing only .. she somehow placed herself responsible for answering every spike fan post whether addressed to her or Not...especially her last response to your comment it actually made me laugh
and no Spike and no Angel?!!! as in "no interesting characters of any kind??! GREAT IDEA!" why not no Buffy or willow or any other character, then??? we might as well read empty Comic books and Watch empty screen

PS: to Billythekidd
its only our 'worthless' opinion..and it means nothing to you...and the comics are just fine without Spike or angel....blah...blah...blah

THIS COMMENT IS NOT ADDRESSED TO YOU...SO IF YOU PLEASE DO NOT QOUTE FROM IT AND START WRITING A SNNAPY COMEBACK...WE'RE NOT FIGHTING HERE, BUT THEN AGAIN...THAT'S ONE MORE THING YOU DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND

itoy247: "no Spike and no Angel?!!! as in "no interesting characters of any kind??! GREAT IDEA!"

Sorry, but I find Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles to be interesting characters, too. If you don't, well, I don't much care about that, either.

"THIS COMMENT IS NOT ADDRESSED TO YOU...SO IF YOU PLEASE DO NOT QOUTE FROM IT AND START WRITING A SNNAPY COMEBACK...WE'RE NOT FIGHTING HERE, BUT THEN AGAIN...THAT'S ONE MORE THING YOU DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND"

Here's something you don't seem to understand: Other people can voice their opinions the same as you can. You don't like it, that's too bad. Learn to live with it.

By Paula at 2:03 PM ON 11/18/09

I agree that the originals would be amazing. It's something they could almost "phone In"
Sarah Michelle just had a baby..she could do it while still in her jammies. And there is no one to replace "Spike" and that raper wit.

By itoy247 at 5:56 PM ON 11/18/09

ok, Billythekidd,
LOOOOOOOOL
thanks for replying to my comment that said was Not addressed to you
that just proves my point about how smart you are...i mean, really...i never said you shouldn't voice your opnion i said mine wasn't addressed to you so you don't have to comment back on it...but you did anyways...and you really made me laugh even more at that...i wasn't talking to you and i don't care about YOUR opnions AT ALL...and i'm not interested in any kind disccusion with you...(you even don't know the difference between disccusions and fights)
i would have explained but what's the point anyways...you'll qoute from my comment and start writing something you think so smart that no one actually care about and if i answered you again i will be really wasting more time on something completely worthless...i'd rather be watching Buffy episodes WITH Spike on it...so you can totally be releafed

By billydakidd at 7:45 PM ON 11/18/09

"PS: to Billythekidd"
"THIS COMMENT IS NOT ADDRESSED TO YOU"

So make up your mind...

By wytchcroft at 8:20 PM ON 11/18/09

what scoop? and where's the Joss involvement? did i fall asleep?

By itoy247 at 9:15 PM ON 11/18/09

Wow!!! you don't even know the difference between COMMENTS and footing notes on comments...the comment wasn't addressed to you but the note was..and you replyed to the comment as i thought you would and THAT'S EXACTLY WHY i wrote the note...but then again you prove my point by qouting and commenting again and again...and also that it really is pointless to try to make you understand ANYTHING!
and OH GOD i wasted thirty more seconds answering you...what a loss!!!

By billydakidd at 11:20 PM ON 11/18/09

*shakes head sadly*

(sigh) This is like fish in a barrel. Just nothing sporting about it.

Do you realize, if you Spike fans weren't so determined to convince yourselves and everyone else that you're the only part of the fandom that counts, I never would have even bothered to make a second post, let alone keep on this long? Speaking of people who don't understand anything. Yeesh.

By Michele at 7:42 PM ON 11/19/09

Where to submit the reels?

Thanks!

By Veiriti at 6:45 AM ON 11/20/09

Bitsy, oh pardon, Billy! I’m not going to argue with you. Actually I think it is better that Spike isn’t on season 8 – the art is worst even than the storyline – small bodies, big heads, hardly recognizable faces. And if they make these web episodes – I couldn’t accept Spike to be voiced by another actor, but not by James and I’m still angry that Buffy will be voiced not by SMG – it sounds to me almost like the idea about the Buffy movie remake, without Joss and the original tv cast. Anyway, I’ve re-read some of your posts and I’d like to say something about the voting on the on the live journals and the forums and about the cheating as well.
I had voted for Spike on one of the Buffy-related blogs, I’m not going to mention the blogs’s name here, but I knew that the owners aren’t Spike fans at all (I’m not going to mention the word “Spike-hates” they tried to assure me that they not). The poll was about the best character on Whedonverse. In the finale votes Spike was against Buffy he had few votes more before the closing (we counted them minutes before) But when the poll results were announced, Buffy came first. We re-counted the votes and some of Spike’s votes were disappeared… So, the owners of these sites can manipulate the votes as they wish… but actually I don’t judge them. If I had a site Xander never would be winning on it LOL
But I’m glad that Spike came second (Spike was right behind Buffy as usual or sometimes Buffy is right behind him, but they are together and that’s more important Buffy and Spike are the best Whedon characters and that enough for me) – the blog-owners couldn’t manipulate it, maybe because they couldn’t ignore the big audience which has been voted for Spike.
And I believe more to these independent internet sites, than to the private blogs, sites and the livejornals. And Bit…, uh, Billy, I recommend you to buy SFX Vampire special – there is very interesting stuff about vampires, Buffy and Angel, not only about Spike ;)
Itoy, sis, please stop to bother yourself with that pointless quarrel! Remember what I said about in our Spuffy group forum ;)
Oh, and speaking about private sites – that site is one of my favorite.
The stories there are amazing and much, much better than Season 8! Maybe the writers have to take a look at that site. ;)

LMFAO... people really do take BTVS to heart. I understand people voicing their opinions. But jeez enjoy what we have, part of the magic of comic books, TV show and or movie is that we don't make the decisions that's what makes it fun and entertaining. It could either kill a show or make it more popular that's all part of magic. We can't control it thats what I love and hate about it. Even if some decisions are boneheaded it's all part of deal. I personally love comic books and think season 8 was well done... you can't expect Joss and the actors just to keep Buffy going forever. 7 seasons is a long time for a t.v. show we were fortunate to have it that long along with 5 seasons of Angel. We are lucky enough we have some sort of Buffy fix every month at least.

lol, another little point is every show, movie, and or comic has characters that people love, hate, like, or just indifferent. On Buffy I was always a Xander fan because he always related to me while I was high school and growing up. He was normal human who sometimes made mistake and could be selfish or self less. But when the moment matter he seemed to always come through when the time mattered the most and that was the most important aspect of him. You might be able to say similar things about Giles, Angel, Spike, Willow, and even Buffy. I also always enjoyed the Bander relationship when the 1st episode premiered in 97. Dam.. it seemed a lot short then 12 years ago. So throughout the 7 seasons and the comic book I have been rooting and hoping for something that seemed a almost set in stone possibility from the 1st episode a Xander and Buffy more then best friend relationship. SMG and I think I heard this from other sources that Joss has meant for Buffy and Xander to end up together. If that means at the end? Or it just never materialized in the show? It still might happen in the comics, but we could never predict were Joss might go with it. That is what to love about him and his zaney but entertaining way of doing things.

I could say things that other fans would say about the subject well since Buffy's been with Spike and Angel.. it's time for Xander. Or we have waited 12 years for it to happen we deserve it more then Buffy being with Spike and or Angel or even Riley. I chose not and maybe I might agree with it a little maybe I don't. But the point is I'm not Joss whedon or one of the writers and I don't call the shots.. so whats the point of getting all pissy if I don't get what I want? There really isn't because I cant do anything about it, it's all part of the magic of it. Of course I have characters I may dislike or maybe even hate. Like Soul Spike and Angel on Buffy, or even Riley. I just don't find it necessary to go around be like Spike's a rapist jerk who doesn't belong with Buffy or Angel's constant brooding and feeling sorry for himself so he shouldn't be with Buffy. Or lol, Riley is too much of a square for Buffy. Hence those are opinions but we don't make the decisions. If we did... the show would be... I don't know crossing over with smallville and we have Cuffys and Bexers out there arguing over petty stuff lol. So we leave it to the pros. Thank God.
I hope my point was made and made at least some sense and I don't look like a hypocrite or some immature Xander and Bander fan.

By cassie_lee at 9:15 PM ON 11/20/09

Wow... despite the fact that almost every comment above is rude in some way, whether to the series creators or to other fans, it's kinda nice to see that fans of the Buffyverse still have so much passion for the series.

How many other shows these days can ever hope to have people arguing so passionately about story-lines and characters, so long after they're cancelled?

And to throw in my two cents while I'm at it, to those who didn't read all the comics because something happened to a character or in a story-line that you didn't like... how on earth did you ever make it through the TV series? Joss and crew have always kept us on our toes, have many times introduced characters that many haven't liked, killed off others we love, and sent plots in directions we couldn't understand. If you made it though the seven year rollercoaster ride that was BTVS, and still loved it completely, how could you be surprised by the same things occurring in the comics?

Anyway, that's just my opinion, and as I said, it amazes me and makes me happy that I can still find such passionate people to share this opinion with!

Way to go Buffy fans! Keep loving it in whatever way you can.

By nicco at 8:13 PM ON 11/22/09

wow gotta say i agree with cassie_lee. despite the massive arguments its nice to see that buffyverse fans are still so dedicated after its been off the air for so long!

while i have to say i was never much of a spike fan while the series was on (Bangel til i die =]) he's growing on me since it ended, so i can see why his character has such a big fanbase.

as for the comics, i read one from series 8, and thought it was awful. i'll stick to my books, dvds, and early comics thank you muchly.

joss hinted that he wouldve had xander n buffy getting together if the series had lasted longer, so i guess it makes sense for that avenue to be explored now. i mean, she got with a girl, so why not xander! =P

Cant Wait I Love Buffy The Vampire Slayer So Much

By Wicked_WIllow_Lives at 7:49 PM ON 11/30/09

1. The comic allows Joss to explore p[lots that could not be done in live action filming.

2. Jo Chen's covers are amazing! The inside art work by Jeanty is ok.

3. Willow's character, since season 8 began, has seen amazing development. Issues such as starting a family with Kennedy and her fear of turning dark again from magic have been thoughtfully explored. The mortal coil at its finest!

4. Buffy has been lost and in her true fashion, finding comfort with anyone close. Remember Satsu. Tasteful but no different than her sexual exploration with Spike in her previous time of feeling lost.

5. Comics were not my thing before Season 8. I had to learn to let go of my desire to see Buffy in the live action arena. Fantasy had to be allowed. Really, would we ever see Willow and her lover having passionate sex and at the momment Willow reaches her climax she is visited by a naked green goddess?

6. Take a chill pill and let go. Allow the story to take you out of everyday reality and just let the story take you on the journey.

7. I am a hardcore Buffy fan. I have props, etc worth about $10k. Really, I loved the show and watch it all the time. I just learned to let go of the show and followed the story.

For those who want the show back... It's not possible if you want to include you fave vamps, Angel & Spike... It's been to long, and cameras and makeup can only do so much. Just compare Angels 1st appearence in Buffy to his last show on Angel. He looked older, and now looks even older on his new show. You can't make someone look that young after a decade, so how would he seem immortal if he is aging? I say if you are a true Buffy fan, you give it a chance. If you hate it, move on... Many of us have even though we miss it. But you may love it. You will never know unless you try. I think all Buffy fan's would have loved the show to go on forever, and this is just one more creative way that Joss is trying to feed that need. I think it's clever & will give it a try, even though I'm not a fan of animated shows either. Anyway, I say *Go Joss* & I hope it's a great success. It's always fun to see what he will do next.
