With this new role, Sam Worthington becomes sci-fi\'s go-to guy
Sam Worthington in Clash of the Titans

Sam Worthington is rapidly becoming the guy for sci-fi/fantasy epics. First Terminator Salvation, next Avatar, then Clash of the Titans, and now comes news that he's going to star in The Last Days of American Crime, based on a comic book.

Here's Variety's description:

Set in the not-too-distant future, story involves the U.S. government's plans to secretly broadcast a signal that makes it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts.

Based on Rick Remender's comicbook of the same name, "Last Days of American Crime" will hit shelves next month as a bi-monthly, three-issue miniseries. Greg Tocchini illustrates.

What little we've seen of the Aussie actor so far tells us he's the right guy for these kinds of roles, the quality of his films notwithstanding. Whatever you thought of Terminator Salvation, we thought Worthington did as well as he could with the cyborg role of Marcus Wright. And he's got a nice intensity and physicality, not to mention commitment: He's told us he'll do anything to make a movie work.

Avatar, which could be his big break, opens Dec. 18.

What do you think of Sam Worthington?

I think studios have embraced him a lot more than audiences at this point and next year he'll sink or swim.

I like him, mostly because he's Australian.

Now if we can get another Chronicles of Riddick co-starring Worthington and Diesel. That could be great! I would also like Karl Urban to return...

He will probably become pretty big with Avatar, Clash of the Titans, and a few other movies upcoming.

He was the only character we didn't want to die by the end of Terminator Salvation.

We need someone to carry the torch since Ahnold became govenor. The Rock has failed us dudes so miserably!!!! We need a new macho action star.

Worthington and Karl Urban fighting against each other in a movie. That would be a KICKASS movie to see. Someone think of a movie idea that could work

He has been one of my favorite actors since I saw Somersault in cinema class in college. He is awesome. I can't wait for The Debt and Avatar. Unfortunately he is not in the new Mad Max though. He wasn't even offered the part so I probably won't see that movie. oh and did I mention he is SOOOO HOT!
