21 classic sci-fi scenes performed by typography

21 classic sci-fi scenes performed by typography

"I am your father." You've probably lost count of how many times you've seen Darth Vader say that in Star Wars, right? And how about that moment in Star Trek: First Contact when Picard declares, "The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!" Both of these scenes have been seared into our memories.

But we've never seen either of them quite like this.

Some awesome video artists have been using kinetic typography—which simply means moving text—to re-create these and other classic sci-fi, fantasy and horror movie moments in a way that has to be seen to be believed.

Check them out below and you'll see what we mean!

There is a time when every unemployed photoshop enthusiast must put down the mouse and come to grips with their boredom and solitude...

Well, that was a perfect waste of 1,21 min...

WTG:) I fully expect to see these guys picking up some serious work, nice idea and nicely done. Wish I had thought of it ---> opens after effects :)

Surprised SyFy hasn't requested longer versions to go along with OSA.... -kh

You have to be a graphic designer to enjoy these. And these are kind of cool. Otherwise it's just word crawl to the public.

Well if nothing else, it's cool to hear some of my favorite dialoge from some of the best movies. Oh and I think it's really well done...I'm a graphic designer. LOL

These would be better if they were free of typos...I mean, when the text is the entire focus of the clip, you better make sure it's correct. The BTTF clip was riddled with typos. I wouldn't hire that designer to do any professional work for me.

I love it! The Back to the Future one was great, despite the typos.

sigh, I miss firefly... strangely the only wheadon show I liked.

That really sucked! No original thought, filled with typos, un-clever motion design, with their only real appeal being the movies they rip off.
Half-wit hack repeats of the same idea, made 3 or 4 years ago:
Pulp fiction kinetic type.
