Star Trek's nude (well, bodypainted) voyages (NSFW)

\<i\>Star Trek\<\/i\>\'s nude (well, bodypainted) voyages (NSFW)

A few very brave (and apparently very cold) Star Trek fans must have gotten the wrong idea while watching the episode titled "The Naked Time," because we don't think Kirk and Spock ever needed to strip down to nothing but body paint and sneakers for any of their away missions. (And be forewarned: There's full frontal nudity ahead.)

In any case, after you beam these people down some clothes, please help us find out who they are and what they're doing. The folks over at Dinner in the Darkroom don't explain where this picture came from (though one of the commenters seems to think it was taken in Seattle), so if you know, let us know!

UPDATE: One of our alert readers, Ethan Fineout, who spotted this on our mobile site, has let us know "that photo was taken at Seattle's Fremont neighborhood Solstice parade. Every year the parade begins with naked cyclists. I recognize the location and the phone number on the building (upper right in photo) matches the neighborhood." Thanks for solving the mystery so quickly, Ethan!

Hey SyFy, how about a little warning before putting the guy in the gold uniform's gear up on your website for all to see! I'm not convinced that these kids are over 18 either!

By SupahBiotch at 4:20 PM ON 01/07/10

Heyyy, trueman HOW BOUT YOU GROW UP.
It says NUDE. THat's enough warning. Dont click if you dont want, aiit? I've seen more dick than you ever will, and I'm a seventeen year old girl.

By jjbinx at 4:21 PM ON 01/07/10

thats the problem with america we complain about nudity too much

By rshetts at 4:22 PM ON 01/07/10

Hey Trueman it does say nude and NSFW in the header how did you miss that warning?

By DJFavorite at 4:22 PM ON 01/07/10

From what I can gather, yes it's Seattle (the area code of the phone number in the background is a Seattle area code). And seeing folks with riding helmets, I would guess it is in the Fremont area for the Summer Solstice. They have a bike ride then with MANY naked riders.

By Res at 4:23 PM ON 01/07/10

That's in Fremont (in Seattle, WA) -- I recognize the building behind them. Most likely they were part of the nude cyclists for the Fremont Solstice Parade -- every June 21st!

By DJ at 4:23 PM ON 01/07/10

So the naked girls are fine & don't need a warning, but the guys do? And didn't the words Nude & NSFW tip you off?

By Yikes at 4:24 PM ON 01/07/10

Yeah...I think they are over 18. If not, I'm sure they'd been busted or not allowed into whatever event this is.

And the area code in the pic kind of gives it away: Seattle-area (area code 206). Geez, how about a little bit of investigatory work of your own?

By JH at 4:24 PM ON 01/07/10

For the record, based on the creasing and the general look of it...that's not body paint. That's Liquid Latex.

Oh right...and they look ridiculous. I love Star Trek but for the love of all that is holy...

By WhatWhat at 4:25 PM ON 01/07/10

I like how Trueman is a-okay with naked women but a NAKED MAN?!? Omg! ::rolls eyes::

By scjessey at 4:26 PM ON 01/07/10

Well the phone number on the wall behind these fine people is for the "Superior Auto Service" in Seattle, so I would concur with the comments from the source.

By skippy at 4:28 PM ON 01/07/10

"trueman832":
What part of "NUDE" do you not comprehend?
Before you scrolled down, the title stated "NUDE" and it even warned you that it was men and women by showing a partial picture.
Don't get mad at someone else because you're an idiot, and your curiosity made you scroll on down.
And another thing... why are you so concerned about one guys' stuff being shown but not three women's?

By Virtual256 at 4:33 PM ON 01/07/10

I can verify that it is Seattle in the Fremont neighborhood, and give you a likely time of year. There's an annual tradition of having naked bicyclists/rollerbladers during (well, before. It isn't *legal* but it is a long standing tradition, so the police look the other way) the Fremont Solstice parade.

By smartguy84 at 4:33 PM ON 01/07/10

I couldn't do it to cold to just where thats paint dont c how anyone could do that... where all my hairy and the henderson fans at

By Charles at 4:34 PM ON 01/07/10

yikes....what a bunch of freaks. Nudity is not a hangup....but jeez show some class and decorum. I know that is kind of radical and unpopular these days.

By Tandy at 4:40 PM ON 01/07/10

We can show decapitations, gutting and dismemberment and have no worries....but show a naked body and you can really get people up in arms. Such a crazy screwed up world we live in.

Which do you think will scare a kid more? Boobs or watching gratuitous gore and violence?

By gse 2010 at 4:46 PM ON 01/07/10

Where's the naked Ferengi ????? Klingon ???

By JD at 4:46 PM ON 01/07/10

Take this picture off your website before you have a lawsuit on your hands.

By byron at 4:47 PM ON 01/07/10

That has got to be the most uncomftorable bike ride ever for those guys.

They did a really good job with the paint though, hats off to all of them.

By j-dub at 4:47 PM ON 01/07/10

Yes, there was a fore-warning... however, an age-verification would have been a good and cautious step prior to posting this.

By marillion at 4:48 PM ON 01/07/10

To be fair to Trueman, the picture graphically shows male genetalia, but not that of the women. (I don't count upper torso as genetalia).

By Katastrofik at 4:56 PM ON 01/07/10

I think everyone should take a chill pill, this was obviously just done for fun/humor, I think it's hilarious! Not like they're hard on the eyes either.

By MDS9 at 4:59 PM ON 01/07/10

A great picture.
Have fun people summer is short in Seattle.

By AbeMudokin at 5:01 PM ON 01/07/10

Clearly, trueman's feelings of inadequacy are what prompted him to comment on the horror of seeing another man's "gear". Apparently his handle is ironic.

By mgb at 5:03 PM ON 01/07/10

They did a great job with the paint. They look awesome. Who cares if they don't have clothes on? I'm tired of the puritanical thinking and double standard.

By JeffSter at 5:07 PM ON 01/07/10

I think Gene would be proud and smiling!

By Paul at 5:07 PM ON 01/07/10

First Dr. Manhattan, now this...horror of horrors.

It must be the End of America.

NOT.

By CFN at 5:08 PM ON 01/07/10

JD: Why would they have a lawsuite on their hands?!? This photo was taken in open public and the people in it are well aware they're being photographed. It's like those who go topless on a beach or march in a gay/lesbian parade, they know perfectly well they're in plain site and that they'll be photographed.

By Gozer at 5:11 PM ON 01/07/10

gse: "Where's the naked Ferengi ????? Klingon ???"

I wonder if Klingons don't just have ridges on their foreheads and backs...

By DOlz at 5:26 PM ON 01/07/10

gse: "Where's the naked Ferengi ????? Klingon ???"

For a Ferengi woman to be naked she would have to have clothes on.

By Gozer at 6:28 PM ON 01/07/10

DOlz: "For a Ferengi woman to be naked she would have to have clothes on."

D'oh! How could I forgot that basic Ferengi rule [of acquisition]?!

By wraithfodder42 at 6:32 PM ON 01/07/10

While the nudity doesn't bother me (at least they're in good shape to be nude), all SyFy needs is one parent to look at the photo and go PORN! and raise a ruckus. Bold the warning, guys.

But since when did stuff like this become NEWS?? Wow, SyFy is turning into TMZ...

By Ken Morrison at 6:36 PM ON 01/07/10

My eyes! My eyes! Doesn't that photo violate some kind of prime directive?

By oldman at 6:40 PM ON 01/07/10

I'm moving to Seattle. . .

By drflox99204 at 6:48 PM ON 01/07/10

FIrst to those complaining grow up-good gods-If you have not seen human parts by now there is an issue. Those pictures are stunning- those are pieces of art- living flexible art!.

By DarkCyberJedi at 6:53 PM ON 01/07/10

Technically, they are not naked. They are wearing a form of clothing. It covers their body and forms a barrier, albeit revealing.

Definition: clothing (noun)
1. garments collectively
2. something that covers or clothes

By LLawliet at 7:06 PM ON 01/07/10

Until I read trueman832 comment, I didn't notice their foot isn't starfleet regulation. And that guy has a penis. What are the chances?

By MiMiC at 7:07 PM ON 01/07/10

I like

By Jonas72 at 7:18 PM ON 01/07/10

What I really wanna know is: Where are their tricorders? :P

As for the nudity: What is the big deal? We all have these parts, so what if a kid sees this picture. Spare me American prudeness/hypocrisy!

By nilus at 7:40 PM ON 01/07/10

Man whats the big deal. We all got those parts people. We all have seen them before. These are just painted.

By trueman832 at 7:54 PM ON 01/07/10

Ok Scifi kids, you probably don't comprehend, but the NFSW wasn't there with the original post. In fact, the title didn't mention nude either. Now, on that note, I'm not a stickler for nudity, but when you click on something expecting a pic of some wierd artowrk, and you get goldie's gear starin ya in the face, it's good for a laugh. And on THAT note, I'm still not convinced they're over 18... you (Syfy) have to watch out for that sort of thing, parents suck.

By bralenX at 8:00 PM ON 01/07/10

MORE PLEASE! :)

By BadSquishy at 8:08 PM ON 01/07/10

Yeah..it says nudity ahead..not sure what some of you thought you would see...I have to say it's interesting...we all got 'em..all in good fun :)

By Omen at 9:35 PM ON 01/07/10

Beam me up the women & leave the guys.

By Tekzel at 10:00 PM ON 01/07/10

Trueman is totally hung up on the penis thing. Maybe he is hiding something?

Anyway, I think its a hilarious picture. I never scoff at a chance to see boobs. God, I am pathetic.

By Impy at 10:55 PM ON 01/07/10

Now if we could just get Jeri Ryan to show up in her painted on Borg/Voyager jumpsuits...

By adayl8&a$short at 11:14 PM ON 01/07/10

Now that we are all past the nudity thing. Great paintwork, the red shirt with the Borg implants on her face doesn't have anywhere near the implants that Jeri Ryan has.

By Gallowglass at 12:26 AM ON 01/08/10

As much as I can remember kids usually don't ride with their parents without wearing something. It keeps the cops from being forced to close them down under the cover of 'protecting the children.' That it also protect the spectators from ending up with pictures of nude kids o get busted over, also works.

By cloudiasue at 12:56 AM ON 01/08/10

And SyFy hits a new low, showing full frontal nudity.
the link I followed said star trek bodypaint, nothing about nudity.

How many underage kids are going to see this?

I thought we were suppose to "Imagine Greater" not sleazier.

By Rawry at 1:04 AM ON 01/08/10

Oh, America. So worried about nudity, no worries about chain saw murders in movies though!
Incidentally, for those who are completely oblivious to laws about pictures of nudity, underage nude pictures are allowed without sexual connotation. Porn = sex, non-porn can include nudity. If this weren't true, there's be a lot of medical textbooks out there with some very inconvenient black marks all over..

By biodredd at 1:35 AM ON 01/08/10

These images are not going to be generating very many lawsuits (contraty to the postings above. These images have been appearing on websites all over the place in the last week. There were plenty of warnings in place and people chose to click through and look. You were warned and made your choice. Grow up for cryin out loud. The people who bitch about this are the same ones who no longer discipline their children out of fear of being arrested for child abuse. Give me a break already.

By Gill Avila at 1:40 AM ON 01/08/10

Why draw attention to the guy in the gold uniform? He couldn't catch a minnow with his tackle.

By TeamColtra at 2:00 AM ON 01/08/10

The borg girl is cute

By jedidoh at 2:34 AM ON 01/08/10

It seems most comments only pertain to the guy. I'm not seeing any that say "I should have been warned about the boobies." Homophobic anyone? Don't you look at your own penis when you go to the bathroom?

Oh wait...I forgot. Star Trek fans. Probably haven't seen their own penis in years!

By Stephan at 6:19 AM ON 01/08/10

Doens't matter if they are over 18 or not. Its not porn. 3 year olds can go to nude beaches. Sex and nudity do not always go hand in hand.

By snakespittle at 7:44 AM ON 01/08/10

The photo's beautiful. It shows healthy, happy people gladly showing off their geeky interests with well-made bodypaint(or liquid latex).

I will never understand (most) americans' views on nudity. What's the big deal? Do you seriously believe children are harmed by seeing nude people!? The hang-up regarding nudity has nothing to do with children, and everything to do with parents projecting their own remnant puritanical guilt and confusion on their kids. Nudity is not harmful. Narrow-mindedness is.

@Cloudiasue: Uhm, bodypaint requires clothes to be OFF. Most bodypaint photos show at least a little nudity. Also, worry not about underaged children seeing it (no child has ever been harmed by a little non-sexual nudity), worry more about close-minded, fanatical parenting groups seeing it. And no interpretation of the word sleazy allows it to be applied to this photo. It doesn't mean what you think it means.

@Stephan: Exactly. Nudity does not necessarily imply sexuality.

By Sith Lord at 7:45 AM ON 01/08/10

The Borg girl can assimilate me any day.

By Carpe at 8:26 AM ON 01/08/10

It looks like some of the girls in the photo aren't as nude as the others. The girl in the blue "uniform" on the left is wearing panties or a bikini bottom, as is the girl in black behind her.

By mrgintl at 10:48 AM ON 01/08/10

This is very disturbing. Sure the girls are hot; but the guys are in great shape too. I haven't looked that good since, .... never! I miss my abs.

By Joe B. at 11:09 AM ON 01/08/10

Why does Sci Fi feel the need to post nude photos anyway? Even if they are painted and sci fi themed? Very juvenile...a bunch of 14-year-olds must work for them.

By ohwell at 11:42 AM ON 01/08/10

OMG! I cant FRACKIN believe it!!!!!!!.........
..........
.........They so totally have old badges on new uniforms,,,,CANON! CANON!!!!!

By Tresmegistus at 12:08 PM ON 01/08/10

By Bad_Wobot at 12:13 PM ON 01/08/10

Locutus looks mighty cuteus!

Seattle has always been a place I would like to visit someday.

By cloudiasue at 12:21 PM ON 01/08/10

@snakespittle bodypaint does not require all articles of clothing to be off. I've seen others where they've left swimsuits on and painted over them. I have no problem with nudity If ADULTS choose to see it.

At the very least the picture should be put under a spoiler tag.

The word sleazy was not intended for the photo but to SyFy and it's lack of character.

By rtavi at 12:37 PM ON 01/08/10

Guys you arent worrying about the r real concerns here. I agree with byron omg!can you imagine riding a bicycle with nothing but laytx protecting you from those gawawful bike seats Hope the streets are smooth. Plus you got to pull it off after the parade owwww!

By Peek-a-boo at 1:03 PM ON 01/08/10

Well, it seems that it wasn't cold on that day. No shrinkage, and no high beams!

By muaddib728 at 2:32 PM ON 01/08/10

To coldly go, where no one has gone before!

By Gozer at 3:11 PM ON 01/08/10

snakespittle: "(no child has ever been harmed by a little non-sexual nudity)"

I bet the people complaining about being (or having children) exposed to nudity were psychologically scarred at a young age themselves when they had the misfortune of walking in on their butt-ugly parents in the buff.

By Gwinna at 3:37 PM ON 01/08/10

They did a good job on the paint, but I agree with wraithfodder42. When did naked geeks become news? There's at least one body painted alien at every sci-fi con, it's not new.

Perhaps before posting each article, the editors should remind themselves of the guidelines they set out for themselves on the "About Sci Fi Wire" page:

"SCI FI Wire is hot news about movies, TV, games, books, top celebrities and more. Red-carpet photos. The newest movie trailers. Sneak peeks at upcoming TV shows and seasons. Exclusive on-set interviews. "

These are the reasons I signed up for SCI-Fi Wire.

By Gilveron at 3:47 PM ON 01/08/10

Oh my God, these guys can banter back and forth about the horror of a man's unit in the picture, and I make a joke about the underlying homophobia and immaturity that's fueling these comments, but my comment gets deleted?

Perhaps it's because I used the word d--k in my post? So you can show one, but I can't say it? Lame.

By smegforbrain at 5:54 PM ON 01/08/10

"Perhaps it's because I used the word d--k in my post? So you can show one, but I can't say it? Lame."

Makes a whole helluva lot of sense, doesn't it?

By Starlionblue at 7:17 PM ON 01/08/10

"And on THAT note, I'm still not convinced they're over 18... you (Syfy) have to watch out for that sort of thing, parents suck."

You're worried that kids might see nudity when they are under 18? Why, don't you think they can handle it? Seriously? As a Scandinavian who has lived for years in the US this sort of attitude never ceases to amaze me. The US is a nation of adults who (to paraphrase Bill Maher) "laugh when they see pee-pee parts". It is my firm belief that kids are more traumatized by being unreasonably shielded from what, in essence, is only some nudity, than they would be if parents shrugged the whole thing off. Note here that nudity is not the same thing as sex or porn.

"Why draw attention to the guy in the gold uniform? He couldn't catch a minnow with his tackle."

Non-erect size is not directly indicative of erect size. Besides he's probably cold.

By Gozer at 10:05 PM ON 01/08/10
